Didn't say it wasn't wrong. Just meant that if anyone could make it funny, Kevin Smith could. I'll wait til I see this supposed 'outrageousness' before I judge. I'm guessing there's less actual footage of a chick doing shit with a donkey than in the Tom Hanks 'Bachelor Party' movie. This Joe guy just sounds like he's being a little girl. He needs a new job.

There you have it. The right or wrong of bestiality is not the point. This cornball critic needs to stick to dramas, chickflick romatic comedies and kid flicks and leave the irreverant stuff to people with a sense of humor if he can't even sit through a Kevin Smith flick. Goodness knows there's much worse out there to find offensive that's nowhere near as funny.

I'm all for laughing at absurdity, but why does it have to include bestiality?

And I believe it was Buttmunch who made the comment about bestiality being right, not Mrs. Dark.

As for moral values of right and wrong, I'm not stopping anybody from seeing it. I just said I wouldn't see it.

I love comedy that makes you uncomfortable. Dogma is one of my favorites - but as a Catholic it can really make me squirm!

The original Clerks was genius, I only hope the sequel us up to par.

Then where is the line? Let's laugh at pictures of Lebanese civilians being blown up. That's pretty damn absurd.

Maybe there doesn't have to be a line, maybe everything should be up for grabs. But I, speaking only for MYSELF, find laughing at bestiality obnoxious and irresponsible. It sends the message that it's really OK, just like laughing at pics of the Klan lynching someone would endorse it on some level.

I am not a PC person, but I do believe there are lines that shouldn't be crossed in a civil society, if we want to keep it civil that is.

To me, bestiality is hilarious in theory, and hilarious + gross in reality. Either way, it make me squirm and laugh my ass off.

Someone getting off with a donkey is ridiculous, and it's in the proper context of a Kevin Smith movie. It's meant to be ridiculous, offensive, and downright gross.

You have your line, and obviously this isn't your bag. But to go into a Kevin Smith film and not expect something like that is stupid.

I don't think there's much that can't be laughed at, if the joke is properly constructed. Ever hear of irony? People with more delicate sensibilities or who have several things they are unable to not take seriously should not watch irreverant comedies.

I don't condone bestiality. Seriously.

But Bachelor Party was funny. I'm sure Clerks II will be too.

Somehow I knew that would be your answer. I've seen most of Smith's movies, interviewed him more than once, and I'm well aware of his humour. Haven't noticed before that he was into bestiality.

What I think is stupid is that directors push further and further into truly gross territory because they feel they have to keep shocking audiences. And the more audiences are shocked, the harder it is to keep shocking them.

Here's a tip: the greatest comedians in the world didn't have to resort to gross-out tactics to be gut-bustingly funny. Which leads me to believe that Smith blew out his talent on Clerks and Chasing Amy. The rest is just a desperate attempt to keep working, and grossness is a way to reap publicity.

My concern would be about the bestiality is teenagers are going to see this movie. My son, 16, wants to see this movie. And personally Im not comfortable to allow him to see this movie.
Like PB Im not a prude, Ive seen alot and Im an open minded person/parent. Smith knows teenagers are going to see this movie especially boys and it just seems to desensatize morals as it was posted what is right or wrong.
I totally agree with everyone who says "you dont have to watch the movie" you have that choice. But do we have to be subjected to bestiality?
Dont get me wrong I like some of Smith's movies, Dogma being my favorite. My son was watching Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back on Tuesday night on Encore(cable) and I decided to watch it too since I had not seen it. I was blown away and turned off by all the F's and c*unt/c*ck's being thrown around in conversation. NO PUN INTENDED by the way HEHEHE. It gets old really quick. I was just thinking if they had taken out a few curse words it could have been a funny movie. But there it is I could choose to watch it or not and after about 30 minutes I chose to turn the channel.
Im sure Ill get an ear full from some but Im learning on here to get a thick skin and go on.
I stand by how I feel and I feel bestiality can stay with porno's and stag movies not mainstream movie theaters. Just my personal opinion and please dont attack me for my own opinion. Thank you

Oh good lord, what's this hang up over people fucking animals? Do you really think that laughing about some woman getting it on with a Donkey is going to 'corrupt' your child, or make him want to fuck Donkeys or something? lol

It's in there purely because it's funny, raunchy, rude and offensive. Exactly what a 16 year old boy is going to laugh at.
