She apparently dumped Michael Sheen to get further in her career; hence, why she married Len Wiseman. She was with Michael at the time of Pearl Harbor.

And Len's ex-wife claims that Kate stole Len from her on the set of Underworld.

As for the always looking glamorous in candids, I dont think so. She always looks fairly casual. And as for the pedicures, thats hardly a sign that she's a single girl on the prowl! And look how much we rip into celebrities when they're out and about looking like dags- she makes the effort because she knows the cameras are around, I don't blame her.

Thanks for the update - I kind of remembered something about him being married when the met on the set of 'Underworld' but I wasn't sure...

I also thought she mentioned that she had a nervous breakdown or had some serious mental issues at one point in her life - again I'm not 100% but I'm pretty sure-

^Yeah, she did. And she's had anorexia. And once said that she finds it hard to believe it when people say shes beautiful, or prety, because even though she looks good, she always feels the same way she used to about her looks, unattractive. And Pearl Harbor director Michael Bay told her she wasn't pretty! (Charlize Theron was to play Evelyn until she pulled out, and Kate replaced her)

What does Michael Bay know - 'Pearl Harbor' bombed anyway... What a complete jerk to tell an actress something like that, no wonder so many of them are neurotic...

I happen to think she's very pretty and has a great body... I'm not too sure about her being an exceptional actress, but two out of three ain't bad-

My boyfriend thinks she's HOT and I have to agree with him...

Beckinsale broke up his previous marriage. Then he cast her in Underworld, which was her breakthrough film. She made all those cute remarks, previous to Underworld 2, that Len only wanted to do the sequel to get her back in the black leathers.

Something similar happened between James Cameron and Jessica Alba. Though she plays the good girl now, who won't show her breasts on film, I've read that she was having an affair with Cameron while she was only 16 or 17. Cameron did the whole Dark Angel TV series about her.

I knew it!
BUT lets get a few things straight here..............................Len wisemans first film as director was Underworld which he also wrote..................before that he had just 2 jobs as property assistant on Stargate the movie and assistant props on Independance day.
Kate on the other hand has been acting since 1991...............much ado about nothing, Emma, shooting fish (with stuart townsend no less!), pearl (ahem) harbour etc...............but i agree that Underworld shot her to Hollywood recognition. Both her parents are/were well loved British actors and her ex Michael Sheen has won/been nominated for the below awards for theatre...................and is a fantastic actor in his own right.

He was nominated for a Laurence Olivier Theatre Award in 2000 (1999 season) for Best Actor for his performance in Look Back in Anger at the Royal National Theatre, Lyttelton stage.
He was nominated for a 1999 Laurence Olivier Theatre Award for Best Supporting Performance of 1998 for his role in Amadeus.
He was nominated for a 2004 Laurence Olivier Theatre Award for Best Actor of 2003 for his performance in Caligula at the Donmar Warehouse.
He was awarded the 2003 London Critics Circle Theatre Award for Best Actor for his performance in Caligula at the Donmar Warehouse.
He was awarded the 2003 London Evening Standard Theatre Award for Best Actor for his performance in Caligula at the Donmar Warehouse.

My arguement being is that Kate didnt NEED to fall in love and marry Wiseman to further her career............i think it was lust at first sight.........unfortunately this dosent tend to last in most marriages...................although they have only been married since 2004.

Hell, she's an absolutely amazingly gorgeous woman. Its not Len's fault. I'd marry her too! haha.
