i doubt they will sell the pictures! i think the paparazzis will be all over them, in the bushes and in the trees to get the first picture. i wonder if it would help if they have an official picture, would the paparazzis back off? kind what claudia schiffer did after her second child was born. all 4 of them let the paparazzis take pictures in front of the hotel for a minute or so and that was that. although horsemouth schiffer isn't jen & ben and the paparazzis aren't as intersted in the first place

Why do they make such a big deal out of him being by her side the whole time? Isn't that what dad's do?

Well once upon a time they paced the waiting room and wouldn't have even been let past there if they wanted! And that was if you were married to a good man! My mom knew women who drove themselves to the hospital while their husbands stayed home and watched *the game* or were somewhere playing golf and expected that someone (the wife or other female relative keeping vigil) would phone him up after the baby was born and then maybe he'd be up there to see it unless they were going to be home within a day!

But I agree it's a bit ridiculous nowadays to make this a huge deal, as dad's in the very delivery room throughout the entire process is pretty standard, unless in the event of an emergency situation.

I'm also so relieved for her that the kid is finally here! But I'm also curious as all hell to know how big that baby was! I think violet is a cute name too.

Why did they induce labor a week early?

Maybe because the baby was really big already? My sister had a Cesarian before her due date because the kid was already almost 10 lbs.

My sister was induced a little over week early because well, the Dr. didn't want to miss Thanksgiving with his family. His kids were coming home from college.

Just heard it on Channel 7 (Boston) news trailer...

Never expected BOSTON to be breaking the big news, well I guess when it's Affleck news.

Anyway...hope they name it something human. Because you never know with these types, it could go either way.

You can learn a lot about a celeb couple by what they name their spawn.
Let's hope Garner has some sense. Affleck would probably go for FENWAY PARK Affleck or "Green Monster" Affeck... maybe Red Sock Garner-Affleck.

I think I read on Celebrity-babies.com that her name is Violet Ann...much, much better than these trendy names that celebrities choose now. At least its a name she can grow up with. I bet she's a cutie.

NEW YORK — Jennifer Garner and Ben Affleck welcomed a baby girl into the world Thursday. Representatives for both actors confirmed the birth to The Associated Press. Their publicists, Ken Sunshine and Nicole King, said the child was born at 6:26 p.m. (EST) Thursday.

"Mother, father and baby are doing great," Sunshine and King confirmed. They would not give any other details.

It is the first child for Garner, 33, and Affleck, 33, who were married in June.

The confirmation came after several media outlets reported the baby's birth — hours before the time of birth supplied by Sunshine and King. Us Weekly reported the baby was born sometime prior to 2 p.m. (EST), and E! News said the couple had named her Violet.

Affleck co-starred with Garner in 2003's "Daredevil," her first big movie role, but they didn't begin dating until last year.

Garner was previously married to actor Scott Foley. They were divorced in March 2004 after 3 1/2 years of marriage. Affleck and Jennifer Lopez called off their September 2003 wedding and broke off their engagement in January 2004.

Affleck will star as George Reeves, television's Superman, in the upcoming movie "Truth, Justice, and the American Way."




It was announced last month that Garner's ABC series, "Alias," will end its five-year run in May. Her pregnancy was written into "Alias" for her character, a globe-trotting spy.
