As long as he does not make a habit of it, and knowing that youth and the best trainers that money can buy are at his disposal-I think he will be fine!

The article really never says how much weight he gained, how much he is losing, or how long it will take to do it. Has he lost all of the weight he gained? There is no way he lost 20 lbs in ten days unless alot of it was water(burning 7000 calories a day would be hell of a job). I have a feeling we are not talking about really large amounts of weight here anyway.
**Best place to go to lose weight..Prudhoe Bay in Alaska working on the pipeline in winter. With the physical acitivity and the cold they can burn off over 6500 Calories a day!**

I am sure much of it was water because he was eating extra sodium to bloat himself. An initial loss of water weight is a hallmark of many diets, especially lo-carb ones.

I make the drink sometimes in place of water, but I still eat. I read about it on this guy's forum who does it 3 times per year. He explains your body and mind go through all these changes, weird one's. He does it for 13 days. You can go without food I suppose, but I can't imagine how one would function at work etc. He also suggests a laxative tea at night, followed by a salt water drink the next morning to flush out all impurities. Not for me.
It's tastes good and I drink more of it than I do water.

I did the Master Cleanser once. I didn't really lose any weight (although I also wasn't overweight). It was to cleanse my colon. I checked with my doctor first, and then followed the book. Basically lots of water with lemon juice, maple syrup and cayenne pepper. It starts to taste gross [i]really[i] fast. I believe I actually cried on the evening of the second day, because I was so hungry. After a few days, you drink a laxative tea in the evening, and then drink a sea salt and water mixture that flushes out your colon. If you've ever done one of those, you'd start to think that maybe the flushes are a good idea. Things may come out that you haven't eaten in a long time, leading you to believe that perhaps sometimes things get stuck in there (like corn, especially). Once you break the fast, you have to be very, very careful with what you start eating. You can't just have a normal meal. You have to have stuff like apple sauce, in very little quantities, or it can cause major problems for your stomach.
I only did it the once, and I sure as hell didn't enjoy it. It didn't seem to slow down my metabolism at all, although I exercise a lot (except when on the cleanse). I don't think I'd do it again, although I do try to do a cleanse once a year by cutting back out any meat or flour products, and just eating veggies for a few days.

I've heard of this cleanse. It supposedly works, a guy at the office did it and he looked like a shell of his former self.
Fasts take discipline.

Ok...so I tried this little mixture minus the maple syrup. I thought it was going to be God awful but it actually wasn't bad. The cayenne pepper made it taste like a bloody mary minus he blood...LOL.
Might have to give this a little try when I get back next week. Don't know if I could go 10 days. Will shoot for 5 and see if I can swing it.
What is a laxative tea? Can you take a laxative in pill form?

A salt water drink??? <--- and I mean that literally!
I'm not the fasting type, it's too uncompatible with the rest of my life. I need food to have energy for work, sports... and because it's one of the great pleasures in life

The salt water drink is pretty gross. You drink a pint of water with sea salt mixed in.
Cleansing can fit into an active lifestyle - I work out and play team sports almost every day. I also love food an inordinate amount. Therefore, I think that getting rid of a lot crap (literally) that's built up over time can be a good idea. The body is very efficient, but like I said, stuff comes out that you wouldn't believe could still be in there.
If you're going to try the Master Cleanser, I suggest getting the book and reading it carefully. It's only a small book and costs a few dollars, but you are supposed to measure how much lemon juice, pepper, etc that you put in the water, and also you have to mix the salt and water correctly to get the specific gravity that you need for it to become a flush, rather than just go through you like regular water. They suggest laxative tea, I don't know if laxative pills would work.
All in all, a very ambitious project, to do the Master Cleanser.
