I too am in the minority here and understand where Washington is coming from. I believe the network and the show's producers took care of this situation in a really unprofessional matter and I also believe that Knight milked it for what it was. There was something always really cringe worthy when Knight and Heigl would be together talking about "the incident" and how she backs him up 100%. It really seemed like them against everyone else. Just the fact that Knight's character has changed so drastically in this season, allows me to believe that he had A LOT of control in what went on on-set and and with the future of the show.
This whole group of people need to seriously get over themselves. They were all nobody's before this show happened. The show is already being run down into the ground, I'd hate to see the end of it because the people on the set can't get over trivial shit.

I agree. As a (former) Greys fan, he was really one of the only redeemable characters on the show. I feel a bit cheated, actually. I thought this whole thing was over with, and when it turns out he was fired after the show finale, it pissed me off. He was one of the only characters that was going to make me tune in next year. Plus, I absolutely hate the way his relationship with Yang ended now, I'm still bitter.

Considering how shitty the show has become, you'd think they would want to hang on to the few characters that people still are fond of.
I also don't think the word is just a word to be used lightly, at all. I wouldn't say it because I know how negative it is. But I stand by my assertion that it was something directed at Dempsey, and it was done solely out of ignorance and not out of bigotry. If it had been that big of a deal, or if he had been "throttling" someone (like someone else suggested), his ass would have been out immediately. But they did not act in good faith. And I still get a creepy bullying vibe from both Heigl and Knight, too. It seems like Heigl can't stop talking about it and stirring the pot. I really can't stand that entire cast now, except for Bailey (forget her real name, now).
