This is not just about a bunch of panty-waist liberals getting all uptight and politically correct as usual. This is about the right of every human being to be treated with dignity at the workplace.
I think that the reaction would be a whole lot different if T.R had shouted to Dempsey: I'm not your little n****r like Isaiah.

I kind of agree with you because in my own sick way, I consider racism worse than homophobia. I don't know why and I really can't change it. I can tolerate homophobia, but not racism for some reason. Although I have racist friends too (same friend as before, homophobic one), I put more pressure on them not to be so racist. I mean, I try to show that I'm against racism AND homophobia but sometimes, I choose the one that I think is more important. I don't know why racism comes to mind. Maybe because it's worse to be called racist than homophobic. Racist, you can get jumped. Homophobic? No one does anything.

I know people who are anti racism, but do not want gays in the group. I just don't care who anyone sleeps with, if that anyone is not me.
Homophobia is more acceptable than racism. That is just fact, right or wrong. A person can not conceal race, per se, but homosexuals are expected to hide who they love.

And I do believe that people are who they are. Gay, African American, etc. You are who you are. It's just that when it comes down to what I dislike most, it's racism for me for some reason. I don't even know why.

Don't presume to know me. Your assumption is entirely inaccurate. And I'm not just saying that - I may have been guilty of saying many mean things in my youth, but certain words never left my mouth. To you, its just a word, but words have power. And knowing that this particular word is so hurtful to a big group of people, at least have the sensitivity (even if you find it stupid) not to use it.
I would presume you're no longer a child or a kid, so as an adult you should know better.

But they aren't "just words" to someone else. I think thats the crust of this whole argument. And knowing that you deliberately hurt someone by using those words, and yet you keep using them, I think says something about your character. Why are you so blase that you can't even see that your words can hurt? Its really quite strange.
I think Isaiah got a raw deal from ABC. But its bizarre to find someone who uses the F word in such a trivial fashion.

"Dear" when it's said to a woman in this context is nearly always condescending and sexist. But don't get me started, lol. I've already been down this road at GR and I've learned my lesson.

I agree. People are insanely politically correct. Isaiah didnt even say it to TR to his face. He may have referred to TR in a negative way, but I dont think that translates to hating gays. He probably used that word because he doesnt like TR personally and wanted to hurt him. Using a word once doesnt translate to hating anyone. There are people who truly hate gays and blacks and jews and even if calling TR a "faggot" was a mistake, making it the big deal it became trivializes real hate that exists. I dont find it hard to believe TR wanted more screen time and a juicer role because his storylines have changing dramatically. Maybe Isaiah was wrong, but that doesnt make him a person who hates gays. I think he made a mistake, but I dont think hes homophobic. real homophobs will refuse to even be in a room with a gay person. the word is serious and describes serious hate, not the use of a word in an argument.

well i remember reading a blind item a few months ago and it was pretty obvious it was TR Knight.i realy do think TR is not as innocent as we think
the blind was talking about a nice guy actor who is actualy an A** hole in a popular ensemble cast trying to get the same treatment as the stars eg.his own trailor and higher pay.
i read what Isaiah is saying and it is exactly what TR was supposedly doing in the blind?

^^ Yeah from what I've read he was arguing with Dempsey and said "I'm not your little faggot like T.R." Which I take to mean, that he can't be pushed around like T.R. Still, he shouldn't have said it. But I agree, he was fired because he's a jerk. If a popular actor had said this, there wouldn't have been so much of a fuss. I think ABC is being PC because it suits their needs.

Frankly, I question why anybody would have homophobes, bigots and racists for friends. Talk about dragging your stock down and tacitly endorsing their behavior with your continued friendship.
Secondly, it's not just a word. It's a representation of behavior and bigotry that has consequences when aired, as it rightly should.

I don't agree with this at all. I've yet to meet a Grey's fan who supports the decision to let IW go.
I too am in the minority here and understand where Washington is coming from. I believe the network and the show's producers took care of this situation in a really unprofessional matter and I also believe that Knight milked it for what it was. There was something always really cringe worthy when Knight and Heigl would be together talking about "the incident" and how she backs him up 100%. It really seemed like them against everyone else. Just the fact that Knight's character has changed so drastically in this season, allows me to believe that he had A LOT of control in what went on on-set and and with the future of the show.
This whole group of people need to seriously get over themselves. They were all nobody's before this show happened. The show is already being run down into the ground, I'd hate to see the end of it because the people on the set can't get over trivial shit.
