You know, I don't really care for this move. Fire someone for not showing up or for doing coke on the set not for spouting sexual slurs. The man has a right to his opinion and if his opinion involves the word fag, then so be it. I'm not saying it's right and I don't agree with it, but I don't think it's good enough terms to fire someone.

This show is going to very much regret their decision.

Hey i know!

Maybe he could start spouting off about kikes or niggers and see how everyone feels then.

Everybody can have an opinion, but when it's a bigoted or racist one, voicing it has consequences. One is you get FIRED FROM YOUR JOB, anywhere.

I know. I couldn't stop laughing. But I think she said one was a senior and the other was a junior. So, one will graduate this year, but the other might have to transfer to another school. Can't wait to see the yearbook pictures.

I think the point that the show was trying to prove was that they have a zero tolerance policy. But from their standpoint, I see why they fired him. Because if you let one person get away with it, then you're setting a dangerous precedent. Because, essentially, what you're doing is creating a hostile work environment.

I think we know how everyone would feel. And I agree you get fired from your job.

And you're right about the attitude toward gays in the black and latin communities, to an extent. But that attitude is found in all communities, regardless of race. As far as I'm concerned, to each his or her own.

But a friend of mine who is a high school teacher told me today about how two students, both males, got caught having sex in the school, and they got stuck and had to be taken to the hospital. One was black and the other hispanic, so go figure.
Yes, that is one of my favorite episodes. Remember the remark he made to Rashida Jones' character," You are so exotic looking. Was your father a GI?"

People like Michael are just dumb. They don't know what they are saying is ignorant. What IW did was just mean spirited and nasty.

Well, the black and latin communities are just more vocal about how they feel about it. I know that from experience. If you are not totally straight, being disowned is not a stretch for the imagination. Bi and lesbian are not any more acceptable than being a gay guy.

If you have bigoted views, keep them to yourself at work. Every person on earth is a bigot in some way. Anyone who says they aren't is lying. Keep it at home.

Umm, stuck? So, one was a little to large for the shirt? I am amused, confused, and shocked by that little tidbit.

Yeah, I remember the GI comment. It was classic. The sad part is, that show reminds me of my job. Down to the stupid bosses who act like Michael.

And you're right, the black and latin communities are just more vocal about their views. And I agree that everybody has some form of prejudice in them. It's human nature. But I think people are afraid to admit it, because they think if they admit that they have some prejudices, that it makes them a racist. Which it doesn't. Those are two completely different things.

Yup, they got stuck. I didn't ask for too many details. But I know that they had to be taken out of the school and to the hospital on the same stretcher.

I had a job several years ago that was totally Dunder Mifflin. Everyone was bigoted and ignorant. I stayed away from all of them and was labeled stuck up. It was black, white, and latin all in the same building and everyone hated everyone else. It didn't help that I was from a mixed family and none of them really knew what I was, so I was banned from all the groups. It worked for me.

I have found a way to be more politically correct in my bigotry. I am totally racist. I hate the human race as a whole. It saves time on finding trivial reasons to hate individuals.

If people would be more vocal about their prejudices and willing to open up to communication, many of them could be eradicated.

Ok, KingCap, no more visuals! NO MORE NO MORE NO MORE! I thought the story I heard from a nurse about a run in with a certain ring "personal" toy, a girlfriend, her boyfriend, and a chemical enhancement was enough! This beats it.

I guess I will be next hitten with the rocks, but I think this is a bad decision on GA part especially since he is a essential character and cant just "be recasted". Also he said the word what ONCE in third person to someone else that was overheard. He didn't "out" TR Knight the man should have either just complained or let it go. Instead he decided to tell people he was gay because "supposedly Isaiah left him without a choice, once he said it." GMAFB. You know how many times the word faggot/gay is used and it dosen't have shit to do with homosexuality?

My friends call movies "gay" and so do many and they didnt see two men or women kiss. They say it as a term that it "sucks". I been called a faggot as a joke, and I'm nowhere near gay.

Here is a story for you me and my best friend were in the line at the movies, two white ladys kept calling each other bull dykes for like 10 minutes and other words along with it, so we turned around and looked at them and you know what they said? "Its okay were gay! We just call each other bull dyke because we can".

Now had I said that and they knew without a doubt I am straight, would it have been alright? Somehow I dont think so. Would if these ladys talk this way at work? And someone else happened to say it to them, is it okay for them to file a complaint with HR?

Things are said all the time and a lot of times its due to anger, it dosent make it right, and IF IW said it once, apologized for it, NEVER did anything to TR again, never made him feel uncomfortable again and went to "rehab" and did a PSA about how he used bad words and all that jazz, and most of the cast/If not all wanted him back, what is the problem? Second chances aren't deserved? He aint a repeat offender in situations that can KILL someone like Parasite or Blowhan.

We dont even know how IW even used the word since the person he said it too, won't speak about the situation rather he is pro IW or pro TR. He just has said that he loves working with Isaisah now. SO how much of a problem could there be?

I agree that TPTB at Grey's made a huge mistake by firing IW. He used the word 'faggot' once, in a heated argument, and probably just completely without thought, as it's as common an insult as "dumbass" now. I doubt that he meant it as an "intolerant" remark about TR Knight's homosexuality. He apologized. In fact, he was the only cast member involved in that argument/incident to accept responsibility and apologize for his immaturity. TR Knight should have gracefully accepted the apology and let it go. What made the work environment "hostile" were his repeated threats to quit and encouraging people to "take sides" (Katherine Heigl) and dis IW to the media. Greys executives, along with "TR and friends," constantly reminded everyone of what had happened. TR and TPTB made a huge fucking deal about it, dangling 'termination' from the show over his head and making him jump through hoops to keep his job only to fire him in the end, for reasons that were completely politically motivated, so they could look like the good guys. I think they blew the whole thing completely out of proportion (from what I understand the incident was not even work related). He acknowledged his mistake and did everything in his power to correct it (and I'm sure he was under the impression that if he complied with their absurd demands, he could keep his job). If I were Isaiah, I'd probably be suing them for either wrongful termination or breach of contract (depending on what the terms were) as well as threatening to sue them for character defamation, because you can be damn sure this will hurt his career. Not that he'd win anything, but he might as well show them that two can play this game. IMO IW was the only person involved in the incident who, in the aftermath, acted in a professional and appropriate way.

Where I come from, "faggot" and "punk" meant some wuss. It had nothing to do with sexual preference.

It sounds to me like IW was a bit fed up with Dempsey and other things going on and the whole story may not be told.

The lesson learned here: Go to work, do your damn job, and forget being social. Be courteous and friendly, but keep your head down.

Revelling, you don't like the visuals? Come on. That's part of the fun.

And you're right, if people would stop skirting the race issue, and just be honest about their stereotypes and prejudices, it would go a long way to resolving a lot of those stereotypes. I've found over the years that I've been closer to people of other races when we were open about that stuff. It's like dealing with the elephant in the room, and then moving on.

Washington "Mad as Hell" Over 'Grey's Anatomy' Firing
Isaiah Washington is "mad as hell" after learning he was fired from hit U.S. medical drama Grey's Anatomy. The troubled actor's future on the show has been in doubt ever since he made a homophobic remark about castmate T.R. Knight last October - a comment he repeated at the Golden Globe Awards earlier this year. And at the end of season three his character, Dr. Preston Burke, was seen packing his bags on the cliffhanger finale. Washington's spokesperson Howard Bragman confirmed his client had received a call from the show's creator Shonda Rimes informing the actor that he was "not invited back to the show next season", and the 43-year-old star today released a statement addressing the situation. In the statement, he simply says, "I'm mad as hell, and I'm not going to take it anymore."
