REAL Meaning Of Suri's Name
Real Meaning of Suri, TomKat's Baby's Name
From Cindy Adams 4/20/06 NY Post:
"We are fancifully told its origins are in Hebrew and mean "princess".
Not to Hebrews it don't. In their dictionary the word "princess" is "nesicha".
Also, whoever has spoken Hebrew in the last 150 years knows "Suri" has but two meanings. One is a person from Syria, a Syrian. The other is the imperative "Go away", and that is the imperative as specifically directed toward a female. To tell a person of the male persuasion, "Bug Off", the word is just "sur"
So when Katie and Tom begin calling Baby Dearest to come for dinner, they will actually if fact be telling their daughter to get lost."

The same meaning in Arabic but for a male Syrian national.
The Hebrew word for 'Princess' also stemmed from Sarah and hence 'Sari' or 'Sar'. But according to some Jewish, the Ashkenazis pronounce 'Sari' as 'Suri'. I don't know anything about the credible of this source though.

Suri is actually an persian name meaning, "red rose". It's not from a hebrew name, how can it even be? The full name of Suri is Surriah.
I was sure expected for them to have something a little less normal, but at least now, since it's a girl, she won't look like Tom. Which IMO, is a very good thing, because the girl won't look too much like Tom. Maybe Katie will finally understand a lunatic Tom really is, and just leave him... Just like what very smart Nicole did.
Maybe the newspaper spelt it wrong? Maybe it's meant to be Surrey?

Well, whatever it means, the name is dreadful. She's going to grow up and change it.
