So people who lose legs shouldn't try and dance? Shouldn't try and succeed with a prosthesis? I'm not a Heather Mills fan, but I don't really understand this. She did lose a leg, but they're not happy unless she's limping too?

Or the guy who pulled into the space, forgetting to put the tag on his rear view mirror, only to sprint back to his car to pull in out of the glove box and hang on his mirror...what's up with that?

It seems to me that a lot of times, those that are truly disabled to the point of needing the placard are unable to drive due to their disability. The placards then end up on the vehicle of whoever drives them around. Also, there are some who borrow them...

I like it! It's quaint. I suggest that people start using "to & fro" instead of "out & about", which has been overused lately.

Well, the person that I know who has one is NOT disabled. She uses her mothers placard. Her mother drives and has one and she drives and has one. If they are dependent on someone to drive them around, that person typically lets them out in front of the store and then parks - meaning they don't need the placards. Long story short: plenty of people abuse the frigging placard and they make me SICK!

Its not about whether she should or shouldn't try to dance, it's about abusing a "privileged" scheme, for people with handicaps that prevent them from having mobility.
If you qualify for this scheme (which I believe has to be signed off by a dr); you obviously wouldn't be invited on to DWTS because the two are mutually exclusive.

I have no problem with that, but they should only park in the spot when they are with the person that is truly diabled, right? It's gross. Otherwise it's abusing the system.

HAHAHA
The only people I ever see with the parking permits are just kind of overwieght.. Not really disabled. Actually, most disabled people I see would rather walk it.. Prove to themselves and the world they don't need assistance.. I dunno.

Agreed.
I mean how could this be doubted?

In order to get a permit you need a completed medical form. This must be the
same case where Heather lives. Are the Federation of Disabled People following Heather to see if she’s still parking in handicapped spaces? She did have surgery a little while ago and used a wheelchair for a while.
A relative of mine had major surgery and it took months of physiotherapy to recover. During this time he had a handicapped parking permit. One day when he still wore a brace from above his knee down to his ankle (underneath his pants) some bonehead blasted him for using a handicapped parking space. My relative wasn’t about to explain his medical history (his leg still throbbed if he walked for a longer period of time) to a complete stranger so he bent over and knocked on his brace and told the guy that he had a peg leg. The bonehead said “Hey man, I’m sorry, I didn’t know” and quickly took off in his car.
If someone uses a permit improperly it’s up to the police to fine them and
not the amateur parking police.

In my experience, handicapped parking tags are not as difficult to get as most people imagine. My friend's brother had some sort of football injury (I think it was a broken ankle) and received a permit that was valid for 6 months. Most people just don't apply for one because they don't know they'd be eligible. You can also get one if you frequently travel with someone who is physically disabled. My parents got one so that they could drive my grandfather to frequent meetings and doctors appointments. People who are legally "little people" (over 18 and under 5'0") can qualify in some states. Most of the people I see who have tags appear to be family members of a handicapped person who just use the handicapped parking permit for their own convenience.

I think they're just observing that if you are fit enough to be on a dancing show you would be able bodied enough to walk.
I can agree with that.

SB, You get fined if the handicapped person isn't in the vehicle and your permit is
checked.
