In all honesty, five pounds is ridiculous! That would make no difference in her appearance! If you'da said 15, I would've given you some credit. Now I just scoff.

five pounds COULD make a difference when you're that skinny....when you weigh so little 5 pounds could be a significant percentage of your body weight.

5# would actually be a noticeable difference on someone that skinny! But you're right, 10-15 would be much more appealing. Scoff or not, I stand by my opinion that she should shut her cakehole about this.

I'm gonna google Giselle and see for myself. Because I still say: Who the fuck cares who said it? It's unhealthy to starve yourself! I guess my problem is I tend to pay more attention to the messege than the messenger. A hypocrite may be a hypocrite, but it doesn't invalidate a legitimate point. I mean, think of all the whoremongering preachers that get up every Sunday and condemn the congregation for their own transgressions!
OT: Alanis Morrisette is on Conan O'Brien murdering Seal's song "Crazy".

Oh course she is right! You shouldn't starve yourself. I say: DUH. But someone that doesn't have to struggle with their weight has no business commenting, IMO. STFU, Gisele.

This is what all the fuss is about?! She doesn't look skinny to me. Just lean and fit! I still say I wouldn't notice the 5 lb. difference. Maybe you guys would, but not me.

Lest we forget:
svelte ( P ) Pronunciation Key (sv lt)
adj. svelt·er, svelt·est Slender or graceful in figure or outline; slim. As opposed to:
skin·ny ( P ) Pronunciation Key (sk n )
adj. skin·ni·er, skin·ni·est - Very thin. See Synonyms at lean2.

I agree with the message. Just not with the hypocrite who said it. Even if she eats like a pig, she promotes the unhealthy body weight/size that leads to *other people* (not blessed with her metabolic rate) starving themselves. If she wants to be more responsible and practice what she preaches she should bust ass to gain the extra lbs that come naturally to most people and model at a size that is a tad easier for most models to maintain. There actually used to be such a thing....and not even so long ago as one would think...as being too skinny to be a model.

OK, now you're finally making perfect sense to me. NOW I get it! But I still (sorta) disagree. Because a lot of the models she's talking about probably aren't "struggling" with their weight. They're simply starving themselves. Peoople who struggle with their weight, IMO, are maintaining a healthy, nutritious diet and getting regular adequate exercise, but still can't seem to lose as much weight as they want as fast as they want.

I think if they're honest, almost all these models struggle with their weight! If they're starving, that's a struggle IMO. Most all models consist of girls who were always the tallest and the skinniest of their peers growing up. And yet nowadays for high fashion they want them to be so thin that even naturally skinny girls are having to starve. My athletic in HS, 6' 130-135# friend was advised to lose 15# more when she modeled. She could only do it by exercising as little as possible. She hated the way it took away what shape and muscle tone she had. Not to mention her hair thinning and missing periods.

People who starve themselves aren't struggling with their weight. They're struggling with anorexia. I think people who struggle with their weight are, as I said before, maintaining a healthy lifestyle but not losing the weight either fast enough or at all. Let's not forget who we're talking about : MODELS. I doubt the majority of the ones to whom Giselle referred would be outside a normal body weight if they ate properly and exercised regularly and drank their water and got 8 hours of sleep every night and etc.!
Regarding the part I highlighted: Careful! You're in the neighborhood of being pro-Ana! No one HAS TOstarve. Starvation is NEVER necessary!
