Michael J. Fox and Parkinson's Disease...Jerry Lewis and muscular dystrophy...Danny Thomas and St. Jude's Hospital...Audrey Hepburn and UNICEF...there are other celebrities in the past who've chosen a cause and given of their time, energy and money. They've given these causes a voice. They've found a passion in helping others. After a while, all the money, the glamorous clothes, the expensive cars and so on and so forth can't give a person a sense of satisfaction forever.
Good for Angelina and Brad for finding a purpose in life that makes them both happy but especially for improving the lives of children. Whatever they give in charity, donations, time or whatever, they will most definitely get it back tenfold. I have no doubt whatsoever this is why they are so famous worldwide.

I'm sorry, but I don't believe for a moment she would have adopted an HIV-positive baby.

^^^It is of course your choice to believe that, but Zahara was an AIDS orphan. Her mother died of AIDS. Angelina had no idea if she was HIV +/- when she adopted her. Because Z was only months old when they got her she could have tested - then tested + later.

That was a big risk to adopt a child that small who could've potentially been HIV positive. I would've been worried about that too! Like Angelina said, there was a concern for the other kids, you know, taking precautions if she would have been. Kids fight, scratch and bite each other when they're small...when you have an HIV positive child, I'm sure you have to constantly worry about keeping the other kids safe (not mixing blood or whatever..sharing toothbrushes, etc...). That little girl, Zahara, is so lucky she didn't contract that awful disease from her birth mother. She was very, very blessed in that regard.

Well, fortunately I don't believe that HIV can be transmitted through sharing toothbrushes, (but I know what you mean.) I would have had the same fears. I am just glad that beautiful little girl now gets to realize her full potential in life.

As a general rule I know you can't, but you never know...bleeding gums, baby teeth falling out, kids bite their cheeks...I would drive myself nuts thinking of all the possibilities.

I thought Zahara's biological mother was found alive and Angelina had to reapply for the adoption.

^ I heard that too but amazingly enough, the press stopped reporting on it pretty quickly.
I agree that AJ couldn't have known Z's HIV status when she was adopted. She probably had a good idea though. By then she had probably had 3 HIV tests (at birth, 3 months and 6 months). While you can't be absolutely certain at that point, chances were still very good she was negative. I'm not taking credit away from AJ by saying that, just answering an above question.

Her reaction is very normal and so honest. Who wouldn't be relieved to know your adopted son/daughter isn't HIV positive? And she has never had biological kids before and the amount of attention she got because she is pregnant with her daughter was surreal, she thought she had to defend her love for her other kids and prove to everyone they are just as valuable as Shiloh and she came to realize that by herself that she loves them equally. Look at her dad and the way he acted all happy because he "became" grandad for the first time! When you have a a father who doesn't even acknowledge your other children just bceause they didn't come out of your womb then you start feeling defensive about your other kids. I'm glad she fels more secure now.
Regarding Zahara's "mother". According to the orphanage her mom died. Since then we had two conflicting stories reported by the 'Star'. A young woman who claims to be her mother, and a woman who claims to be her grandmother. Both stories are fabricated according to Ethiopian officials.

I think that Angelina's father has tried to acknowledge the other two children as well. Angelina won't allow that though...

Yes sure, i have seen his last interview and heard him with my own ears. It's not even surprising for someone who dissed and degraded his own and only daughter on national tv to not accept grandchildren who aren't his flesh and blood.

Ha - I hate to bring the mighty midget into this but he made some assine comment along the same lines recently while in Japan. It's killing me right now because I can't find the link. Apparently, he was asked something like 'how's fatherhood?'. And his reply (at the least the one printed) made it sound like Suri was his first and he wanted 10 more - no mention that he was already a father of 2 kids, albeit adopted.
