This whole thread cracks me up. The opinions are so strong on both sides. The reality is that no one has even seen she interview yet, right? Why not wait to see what she actually has to say before nailing her to a cross or stoning her in the town square.

I know she wants to treat her children all equal, adopted or not. But she feels as if its the end of the world if she biologically has a child.

I really don't see what's the big deal. Why is it okay to have numerous husbands or lovers and that's somehow okay...but when a woman chooses to love and want to mother more than one child it's somehow strange? Why did you marry a black man? Why did you date an Asian man? Why did you have sex with a latino man? Why did you eat Chinese food today? Why did you take that trip to Mexico last year? In fact, why are you buying that Italian handbag? Do you have some fascination or fixation with those cultures? Do you think every person we ever chose to love or every action we ever did that included a different culture was somehow calculating? Do you think we're all motived because of some sick fetish? Do you think that because we admire a certain culture or look to those locations, it means we're sick? Children are children--it doesn't matter where they come from. We live on a PLANET. Angelina Jolie and any other person who wants to adopt has the option of picking a child from whatever country she wants...just like any woman who's ever had a child or ever gotten pregnant also chooses who to have intercourse with in order to conceive that child.

If Angelina Jolie searches the globe to complete her family so what? What's worse, picking the man who's sperm is going to fertilize your egg? Because that's in essence what we do. If you marry, you are choosing to have your husband be the father of your children. You chose him. You're choosing him to be the one to give you the seed. Even if you had a baby from a boyfriend, guess what, you chose to sleep with him knowing full well, you could have a child and you did. It's always a choice. For the most part women choose what child the want whether they want to admit it or not. You may not know how it will look, you may not know if it's going to be a boy or a girl, but you're choosing it's ethnicity and it's background--you're picking what you want too!

People have kids when they're ready. People have kids when they want them. If I were a woman who couldn't have children, you better believe I'd adopt kids and adopt them close together. When you're in your 30's you want to be a young mother. If people don't like it they can turn the other way. At the end of the day you're not the one changing the diapers nor providing for those kids.

Should it be imposed that all people who want to adopt can only do so within their own culture/country, or perhaps a lottery should be enforced? If a child is being given a loving home where is the problem?
We'll have to wait and see when Angelina does next adopt and where from. It might sound like it's an addiction in a way, saying she wants more kids just after one is born, but I can think of a lot worse addictions. I think - from what very little I know of her personally - she will truly love and care for all of her children.

I think it's the media that is doing the qualifying. It's like literature/books. Since the majority of major books published in the US are by white authors, whenever there is a non-white character introduced, they are refered to by their race--the black doctor, the latino lawyer, etc. White characters are never referred to as the white whatever. The same thing goes with adopted kids. I mean, Nicole Richie is still referred to as Lionel Richie's adopted daughter 20 years after the fact. I think most would say he's her father, full stop, yet the media continues to hang that on her. Weird, really.
