We'll have to agree to disagree, I completely disagree that pointing out "adopted" children is simply another qualifier. Children do not ask to be in the circumstances they are.

Well, if Connor (sp?) ever develops a meth addiction, maybe they'll start saying "Tom Cruise's tweaker son."

Better. Of course instead of the media pointing out it's because his father IS A FREAK, it will be because he is "adopted."

But in all seriousness: do you like George Carlin?? Richard Pryor? Do they make you laugh?? Please say they do. They're on a mission, dammit! Offensive humor is what you gotta use sometimes to shake the people up and get them to think!!!

My point is that not everyone wants to have two blonde, blue eyed kids 1 boy and 1 girl.
Some people actually like having more. Some people like to adopt. Some people are interested in other cultures etc.
Just because *you* dont want to adopt does't mean that those who do are weird or have some weird "hobby". It does look like you are just jealous of angelina.

Fine, Eddie Murphy Delirious was/is my all time favorite stand up EVER. I can repeat it WORD FOR WORD. Raw, not so much. George Carlin, of course, haven't seen much of Richard Pryor's stand up. Chris Rock is funny if I can get past his voice. You didn't ask but Ron White is a riot. Never heard of Lenny Bruce, am I missing something not seeing him?

Yes. True. And some people suffer from a Mother Teresa/Save the World complex. I suspect Mangie is in danger of such. It's not unlike the Crazy Cat Lady Syndrome.

How do you presume to know what I do or do not want? Please share your evidence.

I always get such a kick out of this feeble comeback! It's the easiest thing to say! Truly, you scrape the bottom of the barrel with this one. Especially since you don't even no two bits about me. What are you, 14??

He was before my time, before Pryor, I think. He was known for "blue" material when everyone else told clean jokes. He cursed and everything! I want to say he was at his peak during the 40s or 50s, but I may be off by 10 years.
Glad to hear you weren't totally serious about jokes not being funny if they're offensive!

As far as the "hobby" syndrome, I hear what you are saying but honestly let me tell you something....are you listening....if you go to orphanages and see children there, it does something to your heart. I can totally understand wanting to do the most you can. And IF Mia farrow had some crazy cat lady syndrome, you know what? Who cares. She got children out of orphanges. Seriousness aside, if Mia didn't adopt Soon Yi, she never would have gotten to come to New York and have the opportunity to steal her momma's boyfriend. Eww!!

it sounds a little wrong to say that you adopt a child from a certain country because you are interested in the culture.
You don't have to involve adoption to satisfy your interest in cultures, you can study it without bringing a child into it IMO. And just because you adopt a child from a different country, doesn't mean that you will be able to raise the child as he/she would be raised in their own birth country.

Wait, I actually asked the opposite question earlier in the thread. I really think Shiloh won't be treated as well as the others. Guilt will get in the way.

I've heard you all along. I just didn't address this particular point. My reply: yes, good for the kids that do get adopted into healthy, loving, nurturing homes. That's what matters. However, I am still a little suspicious as to the overall well-being of all the children in a home of more than, oh, arbitrarily, 6 or more kids. Statistically speaking, mo' people = mo' problems. I've been saying that for years. It's what's wrong with Planet Earth: mo' people, mo' problems. We humans have overrun the place like rodentia, and pretty soon, this rock's gonna slough us off in one great shake.
So good for Mangie and her mission. Here's hoping she's more successful than Mia Farrow *cough* Soon-Yi *cough*!

yeah i must be 12 cause i don't hate angelina and i am not clutching at any staw i can find to bag her.
So every person in the world who has adopted children is *just* like Mia Farrow?? yeah right whatever.
I personally like the fact that she doesn't want to do the standard 2 kids thing, and being a person who has enjoyed travelling myself i can appreciate that angie sees the beauty in other countries. It's obviously a little to far outside the box for some of you guys. want a tissue?

I'm kind of joinging in late and I have by no means read all the posts in this thread, but for God's sake, children are not flavors of ice cream. Making a family is not like making a sundae, you don't go around picking which colors match best. And for the love of all that is holy, once you have adopted the child, she is your child, she is from wherever you are from, wherever you raise her. You can't use the child to somehow make you more connected to some "exotic" place because you're bored of being lily white and from Bevery Hills.
Now, I'm going to stand in the corner and try to avoid being hit in the face by a big pile of shit.
