Shiloh when I was young
I used to call your name,
When no one else would come
Shiloh you always came.........
..or something
Dont even know what the song is about ...........does anyone else know???????

I believe we're talking Neil Diamond here. I like the name...not too nutty but different. At least they didn't name it Jack or Kate. Every single person I know seems to have a kid named one of those and quite frankly, both names are going to the dogs as a result.

I like enough the name Shiloh, in fact. I read somewhere that Nouvel was inspired by French architect Jean Nouvel… it would be interesting if it were true. I am fan also.

^^ It still sounds stupid if you speak French (and I thought Jolie was supposed to) - it's like naming a kid Novel or Novelty in English

Shiloh sounds like the fifth tweenie to me - Bella, Jake, Milo, Fizz and Shiloh
(Tweenies = crap english kid's prog, see pic)
Also, Nouvel is a brand of toilet roll in england:
How can they not have known that? They lived here for ages and were always pictured in the bloody supermarket! Crap choice of names!!!

I think it's not a great name. reminds me of a US Civil War battlefield.
But I'm glad everything went well. Well as much as we have heard. No news on vag or c-section, no news on weight or height either.... But I'm glad thye are happy. Having babies are the happiest times!

Yep, Neil Diamond. I love that song. It's about a lonely child having an imaginary friend.
I think it's a nice name. First thing I thought of when I heard it was the Civil War battlefield, then the book (also good), and now I have Neil's song stuck in my head.

^^ ITA.
I have a friend named Shiloh, and nobody has ever seriously made fun of her for it. I think it's a really pretty name. Like someone else said, at least it's a real name, it's not made up.

I don't mind the name Shiloh, it's the Pitt part that is horrible. Hopefully
she'll drop her father's last name when she's older, like Angelina did.

well the Israeli newspapers has some ideas about the name:
1. it's supposed to be shi-loh in hebrew shi=a gift, loh=to him.
2. or it's shiloh which was a biblical city in the old Israel.

Dans ce cas Novel or Novelty en Anglais must sound fine to you as well...but it wouldn't to most people...
