Eh, I really don't care, but in AJ's defense, MIL's are frequently pains in the ass.

You said it, greysfang. There are times when you could be wafting about like Mary fucking Poppins crossed with the flying nun and your MIL would still sneer and tell you that you just aren't good enough for her little boy. (I really hope I don't eat these words when my boys grow up.)

Totally agree. I'm sure Ange felt uncomfortable too, though, knowing that Mrs. Pitt has a soft spot for Jenn. That's not to condone the behavior, but maybe explain it. That said, Ange is still a wild child at heart so none of us should be all that surprised. It's not like any of us truly believes the Brad-Ange relationship is for the long haul, right?

I can't imagine having drinks at a kids birthday party, especially if you are the hostess. Come on, you don't drink for one afternoon! If it's that bad, don't throw him a party, take him to Disneyland. I'm sure Mrs. Pitt is a bit of a prude, but I wouldn't want Angie as my daughter-in-law.

You don't get drunk at kids' birthday parties, people! I think the story is probably true because Angelina Jolie doesn't seem sensitive to other people's feelings--at least, not when journalists or camera crews are not around. I can understand how she might think Jane Pitt is a stick in the mud or how she might resent her friendship with Jennifer Aniston, but she should not have been drinking at Maddox's birthday party.

Well I would believe it. Particularly because it probably wouldn't take her much to get pissed because of her low body weight. And it isn't a good idea to get sloshed while breastfeeding.

Really? In our family, the parents and grandparents stay because they love the kids involved.

^ Agreed. If I know I am going to a party & I am going to drink ALOT, then I make other arrangements for my son's care. But 1-2 drinks (article failed to mention WHAT she was drinking) doesnt seem too bad. Maybe she was drinking because her and Brad are having troubles and she'd rather have a little liquor in her system to relax around the "baby daddy"'s parents.
And if the later is true, she should STILL have tried to talk to them or in the very least sit by them & not hang out around the bar all day.

All I know is my MIL is a nut who hates all her DIL's and they can NEVER EVER do right. AJ probably had a glass of wine, and didn't feel like sucking up to people who are not friendly to her. For one I doubt the story is even legit, but a bottle of wine does not an open bar make.

I really do think this article is another made-up story from the tabs....and I have to say it would be pretty hard to gauge what any celeb is like when the cameras/reporters aren't around, simply because I don't know these people and am not privy to their private moments.

awwwww, well isn't that sweet.
personally, i need a drink to put up with a roomful of kiddies screaming and jumping around, and any kids' party i've been to where adults were also invited involved liquor
also, pitt's parents are apparently pentecostals, which is about as fundie as it gets, so i would guess jane pitt is more than just a bit prudish and uptight
