I'm sorry, but Angelina's fascination with adoption, seems like the fascination some women have with shoes or handbags. And what happens to the kids when she gets bored with them? Guess they'll get turned over to nannies. Also, if Angelina Bobina wasn't such a rich and famous woman, I don't think she would have a chance with most adoption agencies. She's got a wild and kinky past(yes, I know, but she's reformed now) and she's living with her current boyfriend. Nothing wrong with shacking--we all do it--but I think most adoption agencies generally prefer putting kids with conventional families.

This is an interesting article...

EXCLUSIVE: THE 'SON' ANGELINA JOLIE ABANDONED

By Barbara Davies
TWO scared blue eyes stare anxiously from the computer screen as the tiny mite sucks his podgy fingers for comfort.
As one of 170,000 unwanted Russian children, little Gleb's only chance of finding a mum is on the Kremlin's website of unwanted babies.

Meanwhile, 1,500 miles away in the cosy nursery of a £2.5million Buckinghamshire mansion, a shiny new Harrods cot and £1,000 worth of designer baby clothes have just been delivered.

After weeks of speculation that she might be pregnant by her lover Brad Pitt, 29-year-old Angelina Jolie has announced that another child is on the way.

The Hollywood star is adopting a child from an Ethiopian orphanage, who will be called Zahara Marley Jolie.

Yet just nine months ago, Angelina had set her sights on another baby - seven-month-old Gleb.

And staff at Moscow's crumbling Baby House Number 13 are bewildered that he remains unloved and unwanted in their orphanage, while she shops at Harrods for another child.

Zahara will be a sister to three-year-old Maddox, who was adopted from Cambodia after Angelina visited landmine victims there in 2002. At the time, she said, "I think that if I simply gave birth to a child then it would be a torture for me to think that I had not helped one more orphan instead."

Zahara, who lost her parents to Aids, won over the star when she visited Africa with Brad, 41, last month.

Angelina says, "We are very happy to have a new addition to our family. My son is in love with Africa, so he has been asking for an African brother or sister."

But where does that leave little Gleb? In October, Angelina had swept into the orphanage which he still calls home, with officials from Moscow's state education department.

There she lifted Gleb out of his cot and stared into eyes as piercingly blue as her own.

He was just one of several orphans she cuddled during her two-day visit to find a brother for Maddox.

B UT when she spotted Gleb she seemed to have a special connection with the tot.

She stared into his eyes and said, emotionally, "My son!" Then asked for her words to be translated directly to the baby.

Windows at the rundown children's home had been cleaned prior to her visit. The director had her hair styled and the staff wore their best clothes - one recalls, "She stunned us all with her looks and charisma."

But there was also dismay and bemusement that a rich American film star's longing for a child should be pandered to by a laborious adoption system which usually frowns on lone parents.

"It was like a circus," said one disappointed director. "As if we should all drop everything because this rich and famous American single mother needed a child.

"She clearly only wanted one sort of baby. She showed interest in one of ours but most were deemed not suitable by her." An insider at another orphanage says, "None of our orphans attracted her because they are mostly from the South and she wanted a boy of Slavic appearance."

In Russia, "from the South" means skin colour that is not white. In fact, so specific were Angelina's demands that officials at Moscow's education department gave her access to their database of unwanted babies, www.usinovite.ru. To her credit, she insisted on seeing the children herself.

"That's the only way I can hear my heart," she is said to have told them, sentimentally.

On the Kremlin website, the boy she singled out is named as Gleb B, born in March 2004, and listed as living in Moscow. An enchanting picture is accompanied by a heart-rending caption which says he is "sociable".

N OW 16-months-old, Gleb is still too young to realise just how close he came to a life of luxury with one of the world's best-known film stars as his mother.

British parents may be able to adopt the boy she rejected - if they can negotiate all the red tape, starting with the website which is not in English.

"It is very important for orphans and children whose parents don't take care of them to be able to find new families," said education minister Andrei Fursenko, launching the website.

Prospective parents can specify eye colour, hair colour and the sex of the baby they want to adopt or foster.

Last year, German Chancellor Gerhard Schroeder and his wife Doris collected an orphan girl from a home near St Petersburg.

Although Kremlin officials say they are not against foreign adoptions, they recently closed a dozen agencies dealing in Western adoptions.

There is also a growing unease in Russia about foreign adoptions following reports of 12 cases of American parents killing their adopted children.

Despite this, there is no great demand among Russian families to adopt. A famous exception is Chelsea boss Roman Abramovich - his parents died before his fourth birthday and he was adopted by an uncle. Whether little Gleb will be so fortunate remains to be seen.

Angelina's search for a second child began when she went to Russia with the UN in August 2003. She visited refugee camps in Ingushetia where Chechens live huddled in tents, unable to return home. In Moscow she met officials in the Education Department and expressed her desire to adopt a Russian child.

Plans were put in place for her to return in October, having completed the voluminous forms required by the Russian authorities - especially from a parent not in a permanent relationship.

It is not known why she later changed her mind about the blond-haired little boy and chose an African girl instead.

Hopefully, Gleb will soon find another loving home, even if his parents are not quite so famous.

Yes, there is a big difference. And she has just as much right to her opinion as you do.

Kari is that really you? I didn't recognise the *copied* one liners! But I must admit it is an improvement from the essays you normally type!

And there certainly is a difference but I will not get into a big 100 page debate on why disabled children need extra care etc. Let's just say if the tables were turned and AJ did indeed adopt a disabled child, your tune would be different again!

And we all know how we choose our handbags and shoes! (where only the best ones will do!)

Of course disabled kids need more care, but i don't find adopting them makes you *better* person. When you see me making fun of Sharon Stone who adopts "blonde" kids from America then you can assume i will distinguish between type adoptions

I hope this was impressive for you as well

I think folks who adopt disabled kids, are indeed very special, and often these type folks are very humble and not hiring press agents to trumpet their good deeds. It goes without saying that many prospective adoptive parents would be reluctant to take on the responsibility of a special needs child. Yet amazingly, some individuals can see beyond the disabled child's limitations. I tip my hat to these folks, because I would probably be reluctant to adopt a disabled child myself.

Well i agree with you, but i also think folks who adopt kids from different religions and races of third world countries are very special as they are showing tolerance, understanding and open-mindness in this very racist and judgmental world. I don't think everyone can do that.

As for Mia, pls don't tell me she raised the 14 kids on her own? Besides she is also *known* for her good deeds, however, her days are gone because she is old. But now she made it in the news again by visiting Darfur and talking to the press about their tragedy.

Don't you know Hollywood lose interest in its female celebs when they do get old? it's not even a news, everyone knows about it.

I think adoption in general is pretty noble, whether it's a disabled or able-bodied kid of any age, race or religion. As far as 'looking them over' I know quite a few adoptive parents who naturally 'looked the kid over' because their plan is to be that kids parent for life.

Although, it doesn't say she's going out to buy one tomorrow (ooooops, I meant 'adopt') It says she'll adopt on the next go-round (prolly didn't like that whole 'pregnancy' thing. Stretched out too many tattoo's).

BTW, if your begging for money for the third world kids, buy a fuckin first class ticket (costs about $245,000 less than what you paid Tom Thumb) and donate the rest.
