My nephews have improved no end since my sister got together with her current partner - its not because they were in a single parent family before but that he's good with kids - his own children are lovely people with very good manners.

I knew that

LOL, didn't Mommie Dearest teach us anything?
NOW Angie is starting to get on my nerves. Just stand on the red carpet honey, look dumb, and stay quiet. We aren't entitled to your opinion, really.

Too many. It is more often foster parents, but there is a fair share of adoptive parents too.

The reason Jackson married Debbie Rowe was so there was no adoption. By law, if a couple is married and a child is born, it is the husband's name that goes on the birth certificate as the child's father. Don't know what shit he pulled with Blanket.

As I said above, sadly it is usually through the foster system that kids suffer the most. And, I'm sure it was MUCH easier to adopt in a foreign country. As if we don't have enough kids here that need homes!? But then she might have not passed muster...

The child had been suffering abuse for years. Parenting has everything to do with the parent. Some can do it and some can't or shouldn't. A background check doesn't insure anyone that someone is going to be a better parent. A lot of people can look good on paper and have the house cleaned up when some tells them exactly what time they are coming over to do a home study. What a stupid thing for Angelina to say.

OMG, this is so painful for me to read. As for Angelina, asshole.

Dunno where you are, but where I am one has to pass BOTH a home country check and then another check from the country where one is wishing to adopt children from. It is also a lot more expensive as well as being more difficult.
Foster Carers also go through the same checks as adopters (where I am) to prevent abuses.

Novice - you are correct. Here in the US foster parents must pass the same home study process before a child is placed with them.
Another pesky fact for you: Biological parents abuse their children at a higher rate than foster or adoptive parents but it goes unreported. Bio families are much more likely to sweep the problems under the rug and the public is more likely to turn a deaf ear because it is that family's business. When the public sees a foster or adoptive child being abused they are more likely to step in since they do not view that child as being in a "real" family and they want to protect the child.
Novice - you are correct on another fact here too. To adopt from a foreign country is usually more difficult. The adopting parent(s) must meet the guidelines for their own state as well as those of the country of origin.
