Angry Christian nuts get NBC's "Book of Daniel" cancelled

Quote:
Because of your efforts, NBC cancels 'Book of Daniel'

Dear William,

NBC's anti-Christian program The Book of Daniel has been cancelled! Your efforts, combined with those of hundreds of thousands of other AFA Online supporters, had an impact.

NBC's decision to pull The Book of Daniel shows the power of the pocketbook. NBC didn't want to eat their economic losses. Had NBC not had to eat millions of dollars each time it aired, NBC would have kept The Book of Daniel on the air. Because of your efforts, the sponsors dropped the program. NBC then decided it didn't want to continue the fight.

Even an impassioned plea by Daniel's producer Jack Kenny could not match your participation. "Ordinarily, I would never ask anyone to do this, but the AFA and bullies like them are hard at work to try and prevent you from seeing these beautiful shows, and that is censorship—pure and simple. And that is both un-Christian and un-American," Kenny wrote. His attitude is typical in today’s society. Non-Christians telling Christians what is Christian.

People like Kenny don't want people like you to have a voice. They want to deny you the right to get involved. You are supposed to sit back and take the trash. And when you do speak up they call you names.

This shows us that we don't have to simply sit back and take the trash, but we can get involved and fight back with our pocketbooks. I want to thank the 678,394 individuals who sent emails to NBC and the thousands who called and emailed their local affiliates.

Thanks for caring enough to get involved!

Finally, if you think our work is deserving of support, would you please send a small donation to help us continue. Click here.

Sincerely,

Don

Donald E. Wildmon, Founder and Chairman
American Family Association
I think it's interesting that, yet again, the christian nutjobs are playing the victim and saying that nobody lets them have a voice.. yet here they are preventing OTHERS from having a voice because it doesn't sit into their little narrow worldview.

Hypocritical much?

p.s. the show wasn't anti-christian, it was ABOUT a man who had personal conversations with Jesus and who's family life was a snapshot of REALITY: wife with a drinking problem, gay son, daughter who dealt pot... Can't have REALITY intruding on beaver-cleaver notions of family, heavens to betsy..

That's because most (at least the most vocal) Christians seem the least likely to really know what being Christian means.

The show was a little Desperate Housewifey, but it did NOT cast Christians in a bad light, and was probably a lot more realistic than most of these jerks would have you believe. Guess what? Teenagers do have sex, people do get addicted to painkillers, and people do have gay kids that they actually love.

Fucking assholes.

I know that is a generalization, but in my life I've found it to be true more often than not. And behind the scenes they are pulling a Jimmy Swaggert.

Does a man like Wildmon get into a froth about these things
because nobody came to him and consulted with him about
how a priest (or Jesus himself) should be portrayed on TV?
"If you don't do it my way, I'll sink you"? Is that it?

One of the key things Wildmon ought to remember is that the
show is about human frailty, as defined by the Bible. And humans
should be expected to be frail, to deviate from the word of God,
because of the powers of temptation -- even Jesus himself
wrestled with his temptations (the temptation to defy his parents
who thought he was too young to go preaching when he was
a boy).

Does Wildmon want people to think about God, or does he
just want them to go back to sleep?

What has 'religion' taught since the beginning of time?

Don't think, obey. Don't question, believe. Don't explore, confine yourself.

Power and control. Religion brings out the worst in people sometimes.

I really, strongly dislike Christians. I KNOW I shouldn't, but lately, all I have seen from them is hatred & hypocrisy. From the 4th grade when my best friend was a southern Baptist & laughed at me for not knowing the Lord's Prayer to my former, pill-popping roommate, who threw my Qur'an on the floor outside my bedroom door. I have seen NOTHING but hatred & close-mindedness & quite frankly, un-Christ like behavior from these people.

Hubby and I were really looking forward to this show, but turns out we both thought it sucked. We watched it twice, and then lost all interest. I''m sure there are many people who liked it, but just about everyone I know also thought it stunk. Maybe it was cancelled because it wasn't very good, not because of the religious content.

I never watched the show, but heard it wasn't that good. Personally, I'm indifferent about the content. But the producers *had* to know it would ruffle some feathers, so I don't know why their acting so suprised by christian groups protesting it?

I do agree that there are A LOT of hyporcritical "christians" out there. But I know some good ones, as well, that do a lot of good for people and communities. Unfortunately, the holier-than-thou loudmouths are the ones that get all the media attention.

You crack me up. You can't stand those nutjobs huh?

It's sad that people can't just tune to a different channel during that show's time slot, they have to bitch and fight until it's taken off the air.

I'm a born and raised Baptist (definately NOT a nutjob) and I enjoyed the show. It had some funny parts and showed what people really have to deal with in today's society instead of the 1950's problems in "7th Heaven".

Now, granted, it was on Friday nights and I don't usually stay home to watch Friday night TV. And I'm sure I'm not the only one, so it probably would have gotten cancelled anyways, but for a good reason: not enough viewers.
