NEW YORK - Hilary Swank and her husband, Chad Lowe, recently announced their separation, but the Oscar-winning actress says they hope to rescue their eight-year marriage.
"We're still trying to save it," Swank told syndicated TV entertainment show "Access Hollywood" at the Golden Globe Awards, which were presented Monday in Beverly Hills, California. "It's not over, we're not divorced. We've been together for over 13 years, and there's a lot of love there."
Swank, who wore her wedding ring to the awards ceremony, added: "We're still married."
Swank, 31, and Lowe, 38, announced their split Jan. 9. They were married in 1997 and have no children.
The actress, who won Oscars for "Boys Don't Cry" and "Million Dollar Baby," next stars in the Brian De Palma-directed crime drama, "The Black Dahlia."
Lowe won an Emmy Award in 1993 for his performance on the U.S. TV series "Life Goes On."

I think that says alot about her. They realize they have problems/issues and instead of saying fuck it, they decide to try and work it out. They have obviously discussed it and decided maybe the best way was to work it without living together. Hope it works out.
THE EASIEST WAY OUT IS THROUGH....
I was really shocked when I heard about their separation. They always appeared to be so supportive of each other and in love. I too hope they're able to work things out. They're making a very mature move.
I heard her say this and since I like Hilary to some degree, I will cut them some slack. I hope they sort things out.
I was so upset about their marriage breakup - they always seemed so happy, and were together for so long. I mean, how many *real* hollywood married couples are there? I always wanted them to have kids too..
And yes, i also thought that her vowing to work it out is courageous. Some people should take a hint that marriage is sacred and not to be fooled around with.
Good for them. I sincerely hope they work things out. I'm sick of reading about irreconcilable differences, which I think is a crock in 9 times out of 10. Marriage=work.
I don't particularly like either one of them, but I hope they can work it out. They seemed sweet together. I'm impressed that they're not just calling it quits without a second thought, that they're trying to work it out instead of the whole "irreconcilable differences" as birdmadgirl mentions that no one ever tried to reconcile in the first place.
It'd be sad if they split. 13 years is a really long time in Hollywood.

I absolutely agree that marriage=work. There are times when you look at the other person and think 'what the hell was I on when I married this one'. Then things change and you are pleased as punch that the other person didn't get away. Marriage is sucky and great and it will never last if you aren't able to sweat out the bad times. That said, my hubby was getting on my nerves so much this week that I would have sold him to the lowest bidder in a hearbeat.

I really respect her. This is a real woman.
Good for Hilary and Chad... that they're not lazy bastards like most of Hollywood and actually putting some thought and effort into their relationship.
and i just heard today on CNN that they were separated!i wish them both the best!
