Lindsay & Nicole’s secret skinny pact

Following Lindsay’s admission she battled extreme dieting, sources have revealed the actress’s skinny crisis developed after she made a secret diet pact with her friend Nicole Richie.

“They decided to go on diets together,” reveals a source. “They figured it would be easier to lose the weight with a friend.”

But it seems the troubled twosome carried their pact to frightening extremes, both dropping to unhealthily low weights. And while Lindsay finally recognised she had a problem, Nicole’s weight has continued to drop.

The emaciated star’s weight has reportedly plummeted to less than 40kg, and her frantic friends and family are begging her to admit that she too has a dieting obsession. They are now planning an intervention in the hope they can make Nicole see what she is doing to herself before it’s too late.

“Nicole needs help,” says a source. “She’s far too skinny and doesn’t seem to even realise she has a problem.”

Already alarmingly thin, the 24-year-old star has lost even more weight since her former fiancé Adam Goldstein, aka DJ AM, broke off their engagement in December.

Anxious friends are keeping a close eye on Nicole and her weight crisis has even brought together her warring parents, legendary singer Lionel and his ex-wife Brenda.

“Lionel and Brenda had a bitter divorce,” reveals an insider. “The one thing they still share is an unconditional love for their only child Nicole. They’ve banded together to deal with the issue of Nicole’s weight as a family.

“It’s the same thing they did when Nicole was battling heroin addiction and they flew her to rehab in Arizona, arm in arm as a united front.”

Nicole’s family are hoping her diet pal Lindsay can also make her see they took their skinny pact too far.

“Nicole and Lindsay delighted in getting skinny together,” reveals a source. “The more weight they lost, the more they wanted to lose.

“Even when they got super skinny, they thought they were still fat,” the source adds.

Now that Lindsay has regained some of her curves, Nicole’s family are hoping she can help her emaciated pal.

At least one of them has come to their senses. It's hard to get out of losing weight though, its like an addiction and very hard to break the cycle once it takes hold. Hopefully her family can help her see sense.

This makes a lot of sense...wouldn't be the first time I've heard of dieting buddies getting out of control.

Nicole needs some serious help though...I read on another gossip blog (can't remember which one) last night that she collapsed in a tanning bed, fainting from hunger and had to be held up and escorted out by her friends...
