Soul singer MARY J BLIGE has warned animal rights campaigners to steer clear of dousing her in paint, because she insists it's her right to wear fur if she wants.

The NO MORE DRAMA star is a fan of coats made from animal skin and refuses to adhere to the concerns of animal activists, including People For The Ethical Treatment Of Animals (PETA).

She says, "Those PETA people don't want to mess with me, they don't want to throw paint on my coat because it's not just going to be throwing paint. It's going to be Mary in the news the next day, you know what I mean?

"What gives them the right to destroy someone's coat because their opinion is that you shouldn't wear animals? Understand what I'm saying?"

I completely agree w/ Mary J. Blige.
I don't see how PETA's tactics attract anybody to their group, if anything, these tactics should scare people away--I don't know who will change their beliefs because they are doused w/ red paint...& shouldn't that be the aim of PETA, to make people understand their beliefs. Instead, they come off as incredibly close minded & nutty.

I also think she is right, it is her damn right to wear whatever she chooses. No one can "make" you see things their way with such ridiculous tactics as they employ. Its like a terrorist asking to sympathise with their purpose. It isnt easy, because logic always says the tactics are wrong. And I think that people go too far with the whole "conscience" thing. People are responsible for their own choices and actions, and wearing a fur is not the worst thing i can think of in this world really.

Yeah, it IS her right to wear fur if she wants to, and it may NOT be right to splash paint on someone else's belongings...but Phish, how exactly can one go "too far" with the conscience thing? I don't think I have to go into all the gory details...everyone does have their own opinion. Mine is that it's CRUEL.
