Becks: My top of flop crops
10/01/06
FOOTBALL superstar David Beckham says that he doesn’t regret ANY of his hairstyles... except his infamous Mohican.
But the England ace still blames his hairdresser mum Sandra, 51, for his most embarrassing crop EVER.
Real Madrid star Becks, 30, claimed his mum gave him the style - which he described as "The Spike" - when she first took him to the hairdressers.
But these days he has no-one to blame but himself for some of the dodgy "barnets" he’s sported.
Beckham tells FourFourTwo football magazine: "There’s no hairstyle that I regret because at the time I felt it looked good.
"Sometimes I wake up and I’m bored of my hair so I shave it all off. Today I’ve got long hair. Tomorrow it could be short again. It depends on my mood.
"The Mohican is probably one of the ones that I look back on and wonder what I was thinking.
"But the spike - when my mum did it - was possibly the worst one I’ve had. It wasn’t even my fault so we’ll blame her!
"I remember the first time she took me to the hairdressers. I wanted it really short but she wouldn’t let me, she gave me this spike thing.
"When I look back back on it I can’t believe she did that to me!"
Beckham says that after that experience he changed his hairstyle as often as Sandra would let him, "which wasn’t often".
Since first finding fame at Manchester United Becks has sported a number of outlandish styles. These have included his original floppy fringe, a mullet, skinhead, spiked, braids, bleached blond centre-parting "curtains", swept back into a pony-tail and a Samurai-style warrior cut.
Becks also told FourFourTwo that the most famous person he knows is War of the Worlds star Tom Cruise, 43. But he said: "He’s a lot more famous than me."
