This is probably just hoopla to keep them in the news. But I like the idea of her dad standing up to the little dictator! (Exactly when I realized this might be the perfect dirt to keep them in the news since Cruise just got voted most annoying).
http://news.ninemsn.com.au/article.aspx?id=79955Tom Cruise has been forced to put his wedding plans on hold after a Christmas bust-up with his fiancee's dad.
Sources say Martin Holmes - father of Katie - confronted the Mission Impossible star about the pair's relationship. The divorce lawyer reportedly told Cruise he was unhappy with his "controlling" nature.
Tom and Katie ended up leaving a family party in Toledo, Ohio, days earlier than planned after the fight.
And now pals fear the wedding might never happen.
A friend said: "The tension in the air was stifling. "Tom was very uncomfortable.
"Katie was in tears but that's standard when it comes to dealing with family matters and Tom.
"They ended up leaving three days earlier than planned.
"I don't think Tom will ever feel welcome in the Holmes house again. The family just doesn't trust him.
"As far as the wedding goes I am not holding my breath."
The pair began dating in April 2005 and got engaged in June. In October they announced they were set to be parents. Katie - set to give birth this Easter - has told Cruise she won't wed before she becomes a mum.
A friend told American magazine Life & Style Weekly "Katie's adamant about not walking down the aisle when she is so pregnant.
"Katie loves Tom but she keeps getting chills, like everything is moving too fast...

I hope she has enough brain cells left to have her own feelings! And if she's feeling this way, good. It's all been really scary to watch...can't imagine being in it. Katie, it's the 21st century, you DO NOT have to marry your baby's daddy!

I'm surprised Tom doesn't just have her dad "removed" via mysterious accident of some sort.
I bet her family feels like she has gotten herself into a cult.
I believed the story right up until that last line ("Katie loves Tom but she keeps getting chills, like everything is moving too fast...). It's quite obvious Kate is enjoying the ride. She's always glowing - no fear there whatsoever.
If this story is indeed true, I applaud her father. I'm so impressed that he's not bowled over by Cruises' celebrity. He genuinely has his daughter's interests at heart. I still think Kate will, in the end, go against her parents' wishes and marry him with or without their blessing.
^^ See and I disagree. She always looks like a deer in headlights to me. It's like she's not all there. She just has this glazed look on her face. Then again, if Chris Klein is as big of an ass as he has been made out to be, she could just be some meek little girl who goes along with whatever her "man" (gag) tells her is right. Either way, the girl is in trouble.
Absolutely! It's definitely the beginning of the end.Originally Posted by Bellatheball
I understand family expressing their concerns but I despise meddling parents. Yes, he's in to a cult, could be gay, probably controlling... but they are only going to alienate themselves at this stage of the game. They could express their concerns privately to her 1x and then accept she's a big girl. THEY raised her. Maybe daddy is a control freak so A. She is used to it or B. Daddy doesn't want someone else controlling her besides him.
He obviously DID NOT raise a very independent minded woman IF Tom is controlling her.

P.S. I come from meddling parents who made my wedding a ƒ'ing HELL!
I don't think they are meddling - I think they are showing some well-founded concern for her welfare. Would YOU be happy to see your rather dim daughter being brainwashed by a wacko cult, impregnated by God knows who, and then marry a mentally unstable, bullying control freak??

Although normally, Luna, I'd agree with you about meddling parents, I have to go with A*O on this one. I'd like to believe I'd be the kind of parent who trusted that I raised my children right, taught them right from wrong and how to make the right decisions for themselves. That said, I could never be a parent who would sit back and say nothing when I knew my child was making the biggest mistake of their life.
Kate's father has legitimate concerns and regardless of the outcome, at least he can live with himself knowing he tried to warn her.
I did say he should voice his concerns TO HER. Not cause a scene or possibly alienate his daughter. He needs to keep open the communication not impose himself on their relationship. If she doesn't heed his warning and he continues to put pressures on, it becomes meddling.Originally Posted by Elisa
