SHE was once a beautiful woman who sold millions of albums and had Hollywood at her feet - but now Whitney Houston looks like a bag lady.
With a ravaged face and wild hair, her struggle with alcohol and drugs has clearly come at a terrible price.
Houston, 42, was spotted walking to a garage near her home in Atlanta, Georgia, at 4am dressed in her pyjamas and a fur coat.
One motorist said: "She was like a bag lady in an expensive coat. She looked horrible."
Whitney - star of the 1992 film The Bodyguard - has been in rehab at least twice after confessing on US TV three years ago she had used cocaine, dope, booze and pills.
It is thought she had never touched drugs until meeting soul star Bobby Brown in 1989.
They married three years later and by 1998 he was jailed for driving under the influence of alcohol and illegal substances.
In 2000, Houston was allegedly found to be carrying cannabis at Hawaii Airport. The charges were later dropped.
Soon afterwards, she was axed from the list of performers at the Grammy Awards after unpredictable behaviour in rehearsals.
At the end of 2003, Houston admitted that Brown had hit her during a row - but the couple, who have a daughter Bobbi, 12, patched up their on-off relationship.
The multi-Grammy award-winner, whose hits include I Wanna Dance With Somebody, So Emotional and I Will Always Love You, was widely expected to make a comeback after spending time in the studio last year.
But Valeria Pensa of J Records said: "To tell the truth, there is nothing to talk about."

This is such bull. Her producers and managers have openly said that her goody-two shoes image was completely manufactured. What a load of crock.

It was the Oscars, not the Grammy's. Christ, does no one do research at these rags anymore? I can't take anything seriously when the basic facts are so wrong.

Now she can at least spend time
with her new soul mate, Diana Ross:

"Where's Bobby?! I got a dingleberry outside my ass!"

I gotta tell ya, the times I watched their show, HE seemed like the normal, level-headed one. She really is quite kooky, nothing like the glamourous image she had when she was at the height of her fame. The drugs issue is sad, but I actually kinda like their relationship, they really do seem very much in love. Who else would dig a doodie bubble out of their loved one's ass?

I don't blame him...it's like blaming Pete Doherty for 'making Kate take coke'. Whitney had issues prior to Bobby....they just feed off each other.

I kinda thought their show was interesting. Shows me how much can't buy a decent life. Hell to the no!

I know, I wish their show would have been picked up for another season...I felt sorry for Bobby with her antics.
I'll never forget her infamous 20/20 interview, "Crack? Crack is whack...all these drug dealers said I spent such and such amount of money on crack? If I spent that much money, I wanna see some receipts!"
Classic. Sad, but classic.

I read somewhere that after her 'firing' from the Academy Awards a few years ago and after seeing her appearance on that Michael Jackson special, that MTV actually got a montage together of her, ready to be aired at any minute because it appeared she was on her death bed......so they wanted to be ready when it happened. I believe it too....

Remember the rumor that she died on 9/11--not in the attacks but from a drug overdose? Wasn't that around the time that she started looking really awful? I'm sure she had her own drug issues before she hooked up with Bobby Brown, but together they are really pathetic. While I'm willing to believe they do love each other, they also completely enable the other's problems. Hasn't he beaten her and she went back to him? It would be really interesting if their daughter were to grow up and write a tell-all about her parents.

I never liked Whitney, even during her heyday. Sure, she's has one of the most beautiful voices ever, but she was so incredibly conceited, I couldn't stand her aura. When she married Bobby, the writing was on the wall. I feel so sorry for the daughter in all of this and pray to God that somebody is watching out for her best interests. What an unhealthy environment. It especially pisses me off when somebody with that much talent screws everything up for themselves. There is nothing she could to now to make a comeback. She's a has been. Remembered for what was and what she became - nothing more. One of the saddest "success" stories ever.

She's a mess, but anyone can make a comeback IF they pull themselves together. Even Richard Nixon died a well-respected man.

That sort of crap is usually reserved for 80-year-olds...
