Brad Pitt bed donation arrives to Pakistan

Brad Pitt's donation of 40 orthopaedic beds to victims of the Pakistan earthquake in October (05) has started to arrive in Islamabad hospitals.
The Troy star decided to make the gesture, worth over GBP55,000, after visiting the area with his girlfriend Angelina Jolie last month (26NOV05).
The beds, of which the first arrived on Wednesday (28DEC05), will help those who were left unable to walk after the disaster.

Executive director of the Pakistan Institute of Medical Science Dr Syed Fazle Hadi says, "It's not easy to look after paraplegic and quadriplegic patients, who are prone to bed- and pressure-sores if they stay in the same position for too long.

"These beds tilt from side to side and move up and down using electronic switches and hydraulics. They will make it easier for nurses to move the patients every two hours."

I wonder how much those beds cost, cause 40 isn't much. But still, that is nice that he donated any.

But then I read it again and actually it says that the 40 beds costed him 55,000 GBP = 95,000$ !!

Even if he donated one bed, that's more than most people do. I can't pick on celebs for how much or how little they do in the name of goodwill - every little bit helps.

you also have to add in the cost of shipping and transport. I wouldn't be suprised if he spent $150k
