BASINGER'S MUM SPEAKS OUT ABOUT CUSTODY BATTLE

KIM BASINGER's mother has blasted her own daughter for wrecking relations between her ex-husband ALEC BALDWIN and the couple's daughter.

Baldwin recently took Basinger to court in a bid to extend his custody terms after the actress allegedly violated a court imposed settlement, and now little IRELAND's grandmother is speaking out about the court battle, which has now been settled.

ANN BASINGER admits she sides with Baldwin, who she calls "wonderful," adding, "My heart is sad for Ireland. She's the one that's suffering the most. All this is killing her.

"I think Kim has tried to alienate Ireland from her father. Alec loves his daughter with all his heart. He really is a family man."

And in the National Enquirer expose, Basinger's mother reveals she can understand what her former son-in-law is going through, because she too rarely sees her granddaughter.

She adds, "Kim and I used to be close but now I don't see Ireland very often because Kim won't let me and that's because I won't take her side about everything.

"She's my daughter and I love her, but I hate what she's doing, that she is being this way... I wish I could see more of Ireland. She's such a sweetheart."

^^Totally agree, they've been entirely too public with all of this...

The whole thing is sad, especially with Ireland's name being thrown out into the press constantly. Poor kid, she's only what, 10 years old?

Random sidebar...Ireland: cool celeb kid name, IMO.

Jeez, quite the supportive mother. I wouldn't be surprised Kim pulls a Jenn Anniston and cuts her mother off completely for vocalizing this publicly. I can't say I'd blame her one bit. It's well known that Alec has serious anger management issues. Did Kim's mother just conveniently forget this?

She has a phobia of being out in public, but I've never gotten the impression she's psycho. She's always appeared to have her daughter's best interests at heart. Alec has always been a bully. He deserves what he gets.

I think Alec loves his daughter and wants to spend time with her. Kim is being unreasonable and should let her daughter see her grandmother and her ex as much as possible. If she doesn't, her daughter will one day resent her for this. Any mother that tries to keep her child away from their grandmother or father is a hateful person. These growing up years should be filled with good memories for this child and something is seriously wrong with Kim for trying to keep her child away from grandma and dad because she can't get along with them.

I definitely see your point with the Grandma, but not so sure about Alec. Regardless of his being Ireland's father, he has a well known history of anger management issues and being a bully. Perhaps Kim has legitimate reasons for keeping him at arms length.

I just can't see him getting violent with his daughter. He seems to think the sun rises and sets on her. If that was ever the case, I could understand keeping him away. It might be, he just has anger issues with his wife and it sounds like they both are controlling and at fault. Evidentely her own mother thinks she's unreasonable also. Who knows the situation better than grandma.

I don't understand women who keep their kids away from their fathers. My kids dad never spent any time with our kids after we divorced. Who knows who is really at fault here? I don't, but why the big fight, let the girl spend time with her dad. Damn, I wish my kids had a dad that wanted to spend time with them. Unless he's on drugs or abusive Kim needs to grow up. He's the only father that girl has.

I don't care what the parents' issues are, you DO NOT involve the kids in your personal battles. Nobody knows how or why marriages break down apart from the people involved but to use a child to score points or slag off the other parent is totally unforgiveable. How long ago did these people actually divorce? It must be YEARS. Let it go and grow up Kim, let your daughter have a reasonably normal relationship with her father even if you hate his guts. People like this don't deserve to have kids in the first place.

I realize you are speaking in generalities, but we don't know anything about the mom. My mother in law was not a person I wanted my kids around unsupervised...because she would say terrible things about me to them (I mean frightful, hurtful things) or tell them they didn't have to listen to me...when they were 4 and 5 years old. I wasn't the hateful person for keeping my kids away. However, unless there is abuse, I agree the dad should be able to see his kids.Sometimes I think we read so much about a celebrity that we feel like we know them and what is going on in their lives, and we really don't most of the time.

Well, I'm sure there are mother in laws out there that are wicked, and it sounds like you had one, but it was Kim's own mother that said this was painful for Ireland and that she sides with Alec and thinks he's wonderful. Who would know Kim better than her own mother and who would know whats really going on in that situation?.......I would think Kim's mom would. The facts we do know, is that they are fighting, its been going on a long time, and Kim is being a nasty ass about letting Alec see his daughter, that he loves very much. And evidently, because Kim's mother doesn't agree with her actions in this situation, it sounds like she is not letting her see Ireland either.

just b/c someone may have anger management problems doesn't mean they would beat their kids and therefore should be kept away from them. i have anger problems...i've been known to go crazy and slap my boyfriend around a little but i would never ever act that way if there was a child around. no way. let the man be with is daughter for cryin' out loud.
