Hugh Grant may be in the soup again with Jemima Khan.

The actor, it would seem, upset his girlfriend at Sir Elton John's party to celebrate his civil partnership marriage to David Furnish when he paid too much attention to his former flame Liz Hurley.

So to make up, he took Mrs Khan out for dinner at the Ivy. Whether the meal did the trick, we can't be sure.

The couple left the restaurant with Mrs Khan, 31, obscuring her face from the camera. If she did sport a face like thunder, it was hard to tell.

The couple then stepped into a waiting taxi and sped off into the night.

The problem started the night before when Grant tried to catch up with Hurley at the party at Sir Elton's Windsor home.

Cue a disgruntled Jemima.

" She looked really angry and practically dragged him away from Liz to look at some flower arrangements," said one onlooker. It had everyone giggling."

It could have been a scene from Grant's most famous film Four Weddings and a Funeral. Possibly the funeral bit.

Grant, 44, has had problems on the Hurley front before now. Coincidence or not, the last time was at another bash hosted by Sir Elton.

Back in the summer, he is alleged to have flirted with Hurley, 40, at Sir Elton's white tie and tiara party.

Returning his affections, Hurley, who dated Grant for 13 years, proceeded to suck the fingers of her ex-boyfriend.

Mrs Khan was not amused.

On that occasion, Jemima, who has two sons from her marriage to former Pakistan cricketer Imran Khan, stormed out of the room, with reports suggesting their relationship was in trouble as a result.
