STEWART'S PLACENTA CEREMONY


British music star ROD STEWART celebrated the birth of his new child last month (NOV05) by burying the placenta in his back garden.

The DOWNTOWN TRAIN hitmaker, whose fiancee PENNY LANCASTER gave birth to their first child ALASTAIR WALLACE on 27 November (05), planted a walnut tree in the same spot behind their home, convinced this it will bring his son good luck.

Lancaster says, "We brought the placenta home and put it in the freezer so we could bury it later.

"We doused the placenta in tea tree oil and placed it in a hole we'd dug in the garden.

"I said a few words like, 'This is our little Alastair: May he have a long and healthy life.'"

Yes, but how would you feel if that Walnut tree died? It would freak me out, personally.

Some cultures believe that you should eat the placenta....

Now I am sitting here going-ok-which one? I have no idea really...I am pretty hung over this morning. Hope that isn't something made up in my alcohol soaked brain!! LOL

I think Cindy Crawford did the same thing! And, I think it was Baby Story on TLC that had one woman talking about boiling it with garlic and butter to eat it. Isn't it enough to take the baby home? You can still plant the tree.

I know someone who buried his kids' placentas and then planted trees. Seems like a more ecologically friendly thing to do than sell them to cosmetics companies - ew. Just remember that next time you slather on an expensive skincream LOL.
Some cultures do believe in eating placenta, and I'm sure it tastes no better or worse than, say, liver, but it's a bit too cannibalistic for me.
