Jessica Simpson to be the next Bond girl?

According to Fashion Monitor Toronto, the U.K. tabloid The Sun is reporting that pop star/actress Jessica Simpson (The Dukes of Hazzard, MTV's Newlyweds: Nick & Jessica) is in the running to portray Bond girl Vesper Lynd in Casino Royale.

An alleged insider reportedly advised the paper, "(Simpson) is sexy, blonde and seductive, so she could be perfect."

This rumor comes on the heels of yesterday's news that Oscar winner Charlize Theron has reportedly turned down the role.

Before you dismiss this Simpson rumor, I must admit that I heard this same thing from a trusted colleague almost a month ago. I did not report it at that time because they are also in entertainment journalism and I did not want to poach a possible scoop from a friend.

Seeing as how Casino Royale is slated to begin filming by late January, the role of Vesper will have to be cast soon.

Simpson isn't the only pop star rumored to be up for a role in the next James Bond film. Seal is said to be in the running to play one of the villains.

^^ This series was ALREADY in the toilet, though for different reasons.
By the time Roger Moore was playing Bond, he was old enough to play
M or Q. By the time he quit, they replaced him with dour, humorless
Timothy Dalton (a great actor, BTW) and by that time, the series had
degenerated into a big-screen version of Miami Vice.

I don't think Bond Girls need to act, remember Denise Richards? She might be a bit better than Jess, but the point of Bond Girls are to be sexy and Jess, as we all know, is just that.....this poor series....

The only thing that I have really seen her trying to be sexy in is that video for the movie and she really made me ill. She looked like a whore and to me that is not sexy. Not trying is sexy...wearing nice clothes that accentuate your body without showing every inch is sexy. This girl would not know sexy if her daddy laid it in her lap...
