Doherty Could Face Seven Year Jail Spell

Babyshambles frontman Pete Doherty is facing a possible seven years in jail after reportedly being arrested on suspicion of possessing class A drugs for the third time in three weeks.

The F**K Forever hitmaker, 26, was taken to a Stoke Newington police station in London after cops stopped him while driving his car at 8am (Gmt) yesterday (18DEC05).

A search rendered substances police believe to be heroine and crack cocaine and the rocker could face up to seven years in jail if found guilty of the possible combined charges against him.

Doherty is believed to have spent Sunday night (18DEC05) in a cell at the police station.

A friend tells The Sun, "This was the final straw for police and Pete fears the worst.

"He has been stopped twice before and bailed.

"He now has three pending charges for the possession of crack and heroine. The police are taking a very dim view because he appears to re-offend even after he has been released on bail."

The star was first arrested on 30 November (05) - the day he returned from Rehab in Arizona. He is also thought to have been held for a second time two weeks ago (ends9DEC05).
