Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes greeted the season in style Thursday in New York, as they celebrated her birthday with dinner, a private trip to the FAO Schwarz toy store — where Tom entertained with handstands — and a late-night ice-skating adventure in the rain, according to People magazine.

People reports that while Katie spent the day shopping at such Madison Ave. boutiques as Barneys, Donna Karen, Ralph Lauren, Miu Miu, and Chloe, Tom didn't come out of the hotel until dinner time, whereupon he scored high marks with the bartender at the Post House steakhouse.

"He seems like a regular guy. He was very nice.," the bartender told People.

After the midtown feast with a group of about a dozen people, Holmes's pre-birthday celebration (she turns 27 on Sunday) continued at 5th Avenue toy haven FAO Schwarz, which was closed to the public by the time the Cruise contingent — consisting of Tom's parents, and his kids, Connor and Isabella — arrived around 9:30 p.m.

The toy store was ready for them, too: festooned with balloons tied to small white tiger dolls and 7-foot-tall stuffed giraffes, People reports.

^^ I'm 31 and I'd still get excited about a toy store! Well, ok, maybe just FAO Schwartz. And I know another 30-yr-old that still adores everything Disney, so she'd get a big kick out of it, too. Oh, and I still love cartoons. So does my 50-yr-old aunt! The difference between me and Katie, however, is I've actually matured mentally. Apparently, she's atrophied...

This confirms that Tom is completely mad now from all those Scientology vitamins, and that Katie had indeed been lobotomised (that's why she looks so weird these days).
