Mariah Carey, Kanye West and John Legend are set to sweep the board at the Grammy Awards - after being nominated for eight awards each. Mariah, up for Best Album with 'The Emancipation of Mimi' as well as Best Song for her hit ballad 'We Belong Together', said she was thrilled with her string of nominations
She told MTV: "It's truly amazing and I'm really blessed to be making the music I love
" Meanwhile, Kanye has been nominated for Best Album with 'Late Registration' and Best Song with 'Gold Digger' while Legend is up for Best New Artist and Best Male R&B
Legend said the nominations were the "icing on the cake" after an amazing year and insisted he was determined to win
He said: "I'm still trying to process all of this
I honestly didn't expect to get this many nominations! It's been a great year for me and this is the icing on the cake
"Getting eight nominations is an honour in itself, but of course, I want to win" Veteran singer Stevie Wonder picked up six nominations, Bruce Springsteen is up for five and Irish rockers U2 were also nominated five times including Best Album with 'How to Dismantle An Atomic Bomb' The 48th Grammy Awards will be held in Los Angeles on February 8
