Last Samurai Star Ken Watanabe Marries

The Last Samurai Oscar nominee Ken Watanabe has married Japanese film actress Kaho Minami, the couple announced Wednesday.

"We've both experienced rough seas, but we've now found tranquility and fortune," the pair said from New York, where Watanabe, 46, is based, the Associated Press reports. "We want to keep supporting each other and sharing our time together."

Earlier this year, Watanabe divorced his former wife, with whom he has two children. Minami, 41, parted with her first husband in 2000. The couple plan to hold a wedding reception in Tokyo, but have not decided on a date or place, according to the statement.

The son of two school teachers, Watanabe, who stands slightly over 6' and reportedly has successfully battled leukemia, worked mainly in Japanese films before appearing opposite Tom Cruise in 2003's Samurai, his 15th film.

Over the summer he was seen as Ra's Al Ghul in Batman Begins. He now costars in the about-to-open Memoirs of a Geisha, in the role of the chairman.
