Default Joaquin Phoenix's Banned PETA Ad

    http://us.video.aol.com/video.index....pmmsid=1434314
(you have to watch a 15 second commercial before it'll play )
TMZ has obtained a 30-second PETA commercial featuring Joaquin Phoenix gleefully pushing a shopping cart through grocery aisles. Suddenly, the scene turns dark as Joaquin eyeballs dead turkeys. The 'Walk the Line' star looks into the camera lens with an ominous warning: "Holidays can be murder on turkeys."

Officials from People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) say they attempted to purchase commercial time on the major TV networks for this ad several years ago, before Phoenix rose to mega-stardom. PETA tells TMZ the networks rejected the offer, some calling it "too graphic," others claiming it inappropriately advocated a position.

TMZ placed calls to the major networks. They never got back to us.

It won't let me access the video, but... what's graphic about it? Do they show video of turkey slaughter?

In a perfect muchlove universe, everyone that eats meat would have to watch animal slaughters. If you're going to to eat meat, you should at least know how it's made.

Anyone who doesn't allow a commercial with Joaquin to air deserves to be slapped. Anyone who doesn't allow the commercial with him in it for animal rights deserves to be slapped twice.

I was able to watch it and it has nothing more graphic than what you see walking through a grocery store (not that that isn't grusome in itself...) I don't understand what the problem is.
(And... I'm not a huge fan, but he DOES look good here!)

The commercial was not offensive. He is filling his cart with these perfect looking fruit and veggies. Then then he sees the meat counter, specifically rows of dead turkeys. It's a good commercial, and yes, he is pretty.
    Keep passing the open windows.
