Elton John to marry in Windsor
Quote:
The legal notice for Sir Elton John's civil partnership to lover David Furnish has been published.
The official notification of their ceremony, due to be held on 21 December, was put on display at Maidenhead Town Hall, Berkshire.
It will take place in Windsor's Guildhall, where Prince Charles married the Duchess of Cornwall in April.
The couple are among the first to take advantage of new legislation making gay civil partnerships legal in the UK.
The official proclamation of the marriage between singer Sir Elton and his Canadian film-maker partner was posted alongside those of other impending weddings and partnerships.
The private ceremony will be staged after the mandatory 15-day waiting period.
Sir Elton recently said the couple wanted a "very low-key" ceremony with only their parents as witnesses rather than a lavish event.
He said: "They've been so fantastic to us and so supportive. Out of respect for their support, we want to just keep it small. Not to make a ballyhoo of the ceremony.
"There will be a party somewhere, but the day will be very low-key and we'll take our parents to lunch afterwards."
The first ceremonies under the new Civil Partnerships Act can take place in Northern Ireland on 19 December, followed by Scotland the next day and England and Wales on 21 December.
