Us Weekly has learned exclusively that Jennifer Garner , 33, has given birth to a baby daughter. Sources confirm to Us that Garner, whose due date was December 8, had her labor induced at an L.A. hospital. The actress is married to Ben Affleck, 33. ''They induced last night,'' a friend of the couple tells Us. ''Ben was with her the entire time.'' Last night, when asked by Us when Garner would be giving birth, Garner's Alias co-star Joel Grey said ''tonight.'' Another one of Garner's co-stars and close friends, Victor Garber, (who officiated the pair's intimate sunset wedding ceremony on the isle of Turks and Caicos on June 29), told Us last night, ''My gift will be that I will be a doting uncle.'' The pair were planning on naming the baby girl Violet. When Garner had her October 23 baby shower, guests made sure to give the soon-to-be parents many purple gifts. When contacted by Us, a rep for Garner wouldn't confirm nor deny news of the birth. A rep for Affleck could not be reached.

Joel Grey is on Alias? And Violet? Seriously? Did she give birth to an 80 year old woman?

Finally!I was starting to feel for the poor woman. I think Violet is a cute name considering what all the stars are naming their babies these days.

I'm new here, first post...I like the name Violet, reminds me of the girl in Willie Wonka. I had a friend growing up named Violet, who hated the color purple. LOL But, given the names celebrities are giving their kids nowadays, glad to see an "old" name be given a chance.
I wish them the best, she really does seem to bring out a better side in him. Bet they will make great parents.

Why do they make such a big deal out of him being by her side the whole time? Isn't that what dad's do?
Sorry, other than that b*tch from me, I'm actually quite happy for them!

My son, when he was born was almost 11 lbs. Myself, I am 5ft3 and always been about 115-120. I can't imagine, as tall as they both are, and as humongous (that's a word isn't it?) as she got, how just unbelievably big of a girl that little baby is going to be. I can't wait to see the pics. I wonder if they are going to be laidback and simple about it as they have everything else, or do the "sell your baby" like Britney and numerous other celebrities.
