Screen siren JODIE FOSTER refuses to employ nannies to look after her children, because she wants them to enjoy a normal upbringing.
Foster, 43, prefers to sacrifice a host of movie role offers so she can be a complete mum to CHARLES, seven, and KIT, four - because she hates the idea of "inviting strangers into my house" to care for them.
She says, "If you're asking, 'What exactly does a Hollywood star with children do?' then I'll tell you. I'm nurse maid, laundry maid, cook, cleaner, playmate, you name it. Oh yeah, and I'm a chauffeur too now because school's just started again."

Good for her--those are the things that most non-celeb moms do anyway. She's always seemed really level-headed. I think it's great that she's scaled back the number of films she does so she can have more time with her children.

Good. I can't stand it when celebrities have babies and them push them off on their nannies because they're too good to take care of their own children like us common folk.
It also pisses me off because it's almost like their child is an accessory they just had to have and then got tired of it.

good for her if that's how she wants to raise her kids, but if i had her money you can bet your ass i'd have a nanny and a housekeeper and they'd take care of all the boring shit like laundry and cleaning house, and they'd take care of the kids when i wanted to have a life or get some exercise or just have a mental-health break... and i wouldn't feel the least bit guilty about it

I'm with Sputnik on this one. I refuse to applaud a celeb for doing what most of the world does without any big honors being thrown their way. And if I had the cash, I'd have a nanny/housekeeper in a second. Quite frankly, I'm exhausted most of the time and could really do with the help.

Impress me Jodie. Come out of the closet. Bring Tom, John, R-Kelly, and Robbie Williams with you.
Damn..that closet must be cramped.
You can leave Jesse Metcalf and his chimp boy...no one really cares.

Just goes to show how real she is. Not caught up in the whole selfish Hollyweird world. IS she GAY? I thought she just wasn't into getting married.

Yes she is gay. She's been with the same woman for years. And no, I don't think they should be calling her a screen siren. She ain't no sexpot.

She's as good as out anyway, she just doesn't talk about it. She lives with her partner, for god's sake. Her name is Cydney Bernard, they met on the set of Anna and the King, and they wear matching rings. And her brother says she's gay. That's enough for me.

If she has a partner, then they share in the raising of the children. It wouldn't be as if she's doing it all on her own then.
Who were the sperm donors? I thought it was funny when Russell Crowe said he would love her, but she plays for the other team, and Jodie Foster's reps were quick to say that it wasn't a remark about her being a lesbian.

I hated all the housework stuff too, but it's all part of the job. I've always had a housekeeper so I didn't get overwhelmed, but not so I could get away from my kids. They do go to school eventually. Part of motherhood is mothering not just the fun stuff. Ask Prince Charles who he feels closer to his mother, or "the woman who raised him" his nanny.

This is a story about them, and the sperm donors, from The Enquirer in 2001:
Quote:
JODIE FOSTER was so delighted with her firstborn baby Charlie that she went back to the same sperm bank for her second baby, friends say -- and requested sperm from the same anonymous donor.
That means both of the actress' sons -- 3-year-old Charles and little Kit, born on September 29 -- are the offspring of one super-handsome donor with an I.Q. of 160, according to the "Silence of the Lambs" star's pals.
"Charles is a beautiful, smart, loving boy -- and Jodie is absolutely blown away by him and the experience of being a mother," a source close to the actress told The ENQUIRER. "There was no question that she wanted the same anonymous donor to provide sperm when she was ready to get pregnant again.
"This donor is a scientist with a Ph.D., tall and handsome, and has an I.Q. of 160 -- genius level.
"Jodie picked him as the father of her first boy after researching the qualifications of other donors at a Los Angeles-area clinic. She feels that even though her kids may never know who their dad is, they'll know they each have the same parents."
The actress has been in a serious relationship with Cydney Bernard since she met her on the set of "Sommersby" in 1993. Cydney's been sharing the joys of parenthood with Jodie since Charlie was born in 1998 -- and they both have been looking forward to another addition to their "family."
"In fact, Jodie's already talking about having one more child," said another insider. "She and Cydney want to have babies while they're still young enough to chase them around the yard.
"As Jodie always says, 'We aren't exactly Ozzie and Harriet -- but who is? A family is people who love each other."
|
I guess it was Sommersby where they met, not Anna and the King. Cydney was a production assistant or something.

The thing that would make me leary about sperm banks is - what if there are other kids running around by him, and they end up meeting and getting together? Do the kids need to have DNA tests done before they can date?
