Nicole Richie Checks Into Jail in Lynwood
Could Be Released Within Hours

LYNWOOD, Aug. 23, 2007 (KABC-TV) - A pregnant Nicole Richie checked into the Century Regional Detention Facility in Lynwood Thursday to serve a 90-hour sentence for driving under the influence of drugs. She was arrested in December after California Highway Patrol officers found her parked car turned in the wrong direction on a freeway, authorities said.

The reality show star entered a county jail for women in Lynwood shortly after 3 p.m., Los Angeles County Sheriff's Deputy Johnie Jones said. Richie was to serve a four day sentence, but a sheriff's spokesperson says Richie is expected to be released from jail within 12 hours, for time served and good behavior.
It's the same facility that housed her "The Simple Life" co-star Paris Hilton for nearly three weeks after she was convicted of driving on a suspended license while on probation for an alcohol-related reckless driving case.

This is so upsetting to me! There are many women that are pregnant, and are still required to serve their time. They even deliver their children in jail!

I am ashamed of the mockery that is the Los Angeles Justice System.

I spent 6.5 more hours on jury duty today than Miss Richie spent in jail!!! WTF????!!!! I did more time honoring my civic duty than she did serving her jail sentence?!?! I am sooooo pissed.

I'm glad this happened AFTER my time in the courtroom today or many would have heard my angry rantings about the justice system.

I did 8 hours of jury duty last month and I was 8 months pregnant. I had to report to jury duty, it didn't matter that I was pregnant. It's fucking ridiculous, I know exactly what you mean.
