TMZ has learned famed divorce lawyer Laura Wasser wants to quit Brit.

Sources connected to her divorce case tell us, Wasser is about to resign as Spears' attorney. The disso-queen, who has repped scores of stars including Angelina Jolie and Nick Lachey, sealed the deal on the divorce late last month. Now that the divorce is done, Wasser is done.

We're told Wasser has put Spears in touch with other lawyers who could help the singer in her ongoing custody battle with Fed-Ex, but Spears has become so reliant on Wasser she doesn't like any of the alternatives. There's probably good reason -- with Spears flipping out before our eyes, it's pretty amazing Wasser was able to get a 50/50 custody split in the settlement.

As for why Wasser wants out, we're guessin' crisis of conscience.

Wasser didn't return our calls.

Ahaha, she's so horrible and hard to deal with even the best divorce lawyer in freakin' Hollywood wants to get rid of her!! Just like her publicist, that Leslie Sloane-Zelnick lady who even still deals with the insanity of Lilo, had to wash her hands of Brit. She must be throwing some grade-A tantrums and demanding loony, impossible stuff.

Ah well, still the driving cause of her own demise.

Playing Devil's advocate for a minute here. Wouldn't a person want like a family law attorney instead of a divorce attorney for a custody thing? Maybe her attorney doesn't do custody cases.

What I really want to be true is Brit is THAT bad of a client. That her attorney couldn't take the crazy train anymore and got off.

Laura Wasser is very famous for doing (confidential) divorces, but I'm sure that any other GR-er will be able to say if she does child visitation.

A lot of divorce attorneys practice family law.

I just find it telling that everyone associated with her is, as Cataroo said, jumping ship.

An X17 source is telling us that Britney has fired her attorney Laura Wasser -- the one she visited on Wednesday. Wasser was representing Brit in the custody battle with Kevin. Perhaps this sour look on Britney's face the other day was a sign.

Let's see Larry was fired after he hooked her up with Paris who led her into yeah that was a brialliant idea. And then he's the one who jetted after she went to rehab. I think the whole thing was too much for him to take. I guess he was afraid she was going to shave off his toupe . A s for her assistant Alli has her own career going now. And well the Funk girl was a joke to begin with. Her own family are only following the trail of money. If kevin gets the kids he gets the money. Besides they have Jamie Lynn now to bring in the dough, they dont need Britney to bust her ass 24/7, 365 anymore. She's expendible. And well she now needs someone with finacial law expericence as well as family law. And someone who doesn't mind getting down in the dirt. This has gone too far for it to be kept quiet. And it's def. now private.

Actually an attorney who handles divorces is a family law attny. do we know for sure that Wasser is no longer representing her or is this just rumour?
