Mandy Moore says she will never become a 'fuck up'

The singer-and-actress has taken a swipe at her hellraising rivals, such as Lindsay Lohan and Britney Spears, by insisting she will never follow the path that leads to drink, drugs and brushes with the law.

Mandy, who is renowned for her squeaky clean image, told Marie Claire magazine: "I'm by no means a goody-goody, but I'd rather be considered a goody-goody than a f**k-up. It's funny that there's so much emphasis put on that now. Their extracurricular activities are more newsworthy that anything they're really doing."

The 23-year-old star, who got her first recording deal when she was just 14, insists she can't reinvent herself as a wild child because it's not who she is.

Mandy added: "I'm not going to walk out without my underwear on. I'm not going to stumble out of a club drunk, you know? It's just not me, it wouldn't be authentic."

Ordinarily what Mandy's saying would sound annoyingly self-righteous, but it's just stupid-ridiculous right now how celebs have jumped on the instant-free-publicity bandwagon that comes with being a fuck up. It's to the point now where they go balls-out trying compete with one another over who has perpetrated the latest and greatest episode of "fucked-upness".

It makes me actually miss the days when celebs kept being a major fuck up on the down low. If nothing else they should actually start doing this again because it's cutting edge. Being a shallow, drugged-up, out-of-control whorebag (and thus a shitty parent, if you've also bred spawn in the process) is actually boring and passe now that "everybody's doing it". Who would have thought Mandy Moore would become cutting edge?
