Biceps bulging and triceps tautened, Sarah Jessica Parker seems determined to muscle in on Madonna's territory.

A muscle-bound Sarah Jessica Parker unveils her ultra-muscular arm look...

In a strapless black dress teamed with a belt and matching dark shoes, Miss Parker, launching her latest perfume in New York, showed off a pumped-up physique that could only have come from hours in the gym.

At 42, she is a few years behind Madonna, the 48-year-old mistress of discipline who exercises for three hours a day and works as hard on her figure as her singing career.

Of course, one explanation for SJP's fiercely toned body could be that the diminutive mother-of-one is desperately trying to get in to shape for the hugely anticipated Sex and the City film.
Insiders have said that negotiations with the series' four leading ladies, Kim Cattrall, Kristin Davis and Cynthia Nixon are in full swing to adapt the hit show for the big screen.
"As a former dancer, Sarah Jessica has always been slim and toned," said an onlooker. "But she definitely looks as though she's been stepping it up a gear or two in the gym of late.
"She did not have an ounce of fat on her and her arms, in particular, where exceptionally honed. She has the kind of physique that an athlete in their twenties would be proud of." Scroll down for more...

Madge versus SJP in the battle of the bulge

According to health and fitness experts such prominent veinage is usually a sign of physical over-exertion.

Richard Comley, a personal trainer in Kensington said: "Sarah has obviously done high resistance training to get her arms that defined and sculpted. It is unusual to see a woman with that amount of developed muscle, because females have lower testosterone levels than males.
"She has got a low body fat percentage - you can tell by the definition on her arms and you can almost see it on her chest aswell. She has started to develop chest muscles.
"She would have been training for months to achieve this look and some spot-on training."

Madge looks like Gollum in that pic. And SJP has just overdone it a bit. It's impressive muscle-building, but that doesn't look feminine to me any more.

When will women learn that there somes a point when you must choose between your ass and your face? Skinny older women look frightening (think Jackie O. in her later anorexic years). A few extra pounds helps soften things up, especially around the face.

Scary. I'll fully admit, I coveted Linda Hamilton's arms in Terminator 2 --- back in the day. But Madonna's arms must scare all those poor African babies that she keeps trying to purchase. Hell, they scare me.

I hope Sarah Jessica stops with the pursuit of scary arms. I know it must be hard to compete for the affections of her husband with all of those young 20 something boys that hang around Times Square in search of a few bucks for a suck --- but still. Ick.
