Lily Allen banned from the US

Lily Allen had no trouble entering Australia (above at Sydney Airport). The singer has been refused entry into America after being interrogated at U.S. customs at Los Angeles airport over her criminal record


Lily Allen today vowed to do everything she can to overturn a ban by U.S. authorities who have stripped her of her work visa.
The singer was "shocked" after being searched and questioned by Los Angeles custom officers for five hours on Sunday night following her arrest and subsequent caution in London last March for assaulting a photographer.
Her tour of the States in September is now in doubt because she will be unable to perform without a work visa.
Lily, 22, had flown from Australia to LA for the MTV video music awards nominations party today and film a music video with rapper Kanye West.
Her spokesperson said: "Lily doesn't know why it happened, she is quite shocked, but her LA schedule carries on as planned.
"She's due back in the UK at the end of the week to continue work on her second album, and we're sure all this will be sorted out in time for her American tour.
"It's in the hands of the relevant authorities and these things take time. The most important thing to her is her fans. She does not want to let them down."
Lily will have to apply to officials in London for another visa.
The singer, staying in an LA hotel, went out to dinner with friends in the city last night.

The unnamed snapper said she kicked him after he asked her for just one photo. But her tour representative denied the allegation and said: "It is completely untrue. He was jumping all over everyone. He was really in her face. He was asked by two tour managers to back off, and then he was yelling stuff out. No one kicked anyone

Quick question - does having a criminal record prevent you from entering the USA? I know that they have strict regulations about drug convictions, but an assault charge?

I think it was the Aussies who did it to Snoop and I can understand that more than Lily Allen. Actually, I have a hard time undestanding any of it since if you sneeze at the wrong person whilst going through passport control these days, you'll be branded a terrorist and have a record for life.
