Paris believes in Santa Claus
Paris Hilton says she believed in Father Christmas until she was 17. The Simple Life star, 24, says she only discovered the truth when a pal revealed there was no such person. She said: "I believed in Santa Claus until I was 17 when some mean person told me it wasn't true. "When my sister and I were kids we used to get up at 6am but now I'm a little lazy so I get up at 11." She says her dream presents for Christmas include a silver Bentley GT convertible -- possibly to replace the one her ex-boyfriend Stavros Niarchos scratched in a bingle a fortnight ago.

Re: Paris believes in Santa Claus
If I had her life, I'd believe in Santa, too. It's Christmas every day for her.

Re: Paris believes in Santa Claus
Does she really think that people will find this cute and endearing?

Of course everyday is Christmas for Paris Hilton! She hears "Ho! Ho! Ho!" every day of the year, no matter where she goes!

Re: Paris believes in Santa Claus
Ho Ho Ho - that's too funny. Paris-ite definitely has a problem trying to appear "cute." Look at those awkward little girl poses she attempts, and the stupid way her gigantic feet go when she stands, she is trying to appear small and cute. She is neither. Plus, she is a little too old for that crap. That should stop when you are about 5. Way before your sex life is spread all over the world. And if she seriously believed in Santa Claus until she was 17, she is truly insane, which explains a lot, doesn't it!

Re: Paris believes in Santa Claus
Well, in retrospect, my 11 year old son still believes in Santa Claus and all his friends have told him otherwise. I actually told my son that other kids don't believe in Santa because they obviously were bad and didn't get what they wanted for Christmas and it makes them feel better to think there is no Santa than to admit they weren't good (Heh heh )
I am actually going to keep going with this for as long as I can, simply to see how long it takes before my son loses this magical fantasy.
Btw - I never believed in Santa Claus.

Re: Paris believes in Santa Claus
I agree, she probably thinks this is a cute little soundbite, it can't be for real.
I saw an interview with her once and she didn't know what a washer was called. "You know, that thing that cleans clothes."
Why is stupidity being celebrated so much these days?

Thats nice of you to want it to keep going but if he gets any older his friends will start to laugh at him. When they get to a certain age believing in Santa isn't considered cool. It happened to my cousin.

Me too Icepik! My sons were about 12 & 9 when they figured it out. MY 12 yr old is now 27, and he STILL gets so excited over Christmas he almost throws up, my other son & I would always lay a bet as to whether or not Jake would!
Jake still insists there is a Santa, and no way will he hear anything different.
My oldest son's enthusiasm is what the Christmas spirit to me is all about. It was never about the presents, but always about the rituals and the family fun. Our bestest most favorite Christmas was when we all banned buying presents, we were all broke, me from putting the boys through college, the boys were broke from being in college. The thoughtfulness and sheer fun of making and sharing the gifts still brings a warm fuzzy feeling to my heart.
That is what Christmas is all about.

Re: Paris believes in Santa Claus
^^^^AWWWWW! I agree with you. We've had quite a few MEAGER Christmases...and they were actually the most magical.
I pretended to believe in Santa long after I actually knew. I wanted that magic to last. I think I knew at about 8. My son is 7 and is already asking all kinds of questions. I don't ever LIE, I just give him open ended answers: "Well, what do you think?"

I don't know whether to laugh because you might be fucking up your kid a li'l bit, or whether to be horrified by the idea of it. Either way, it's fun to mess with their little minds, ain't it?

I don't think you understand what I am allowing...it's all very innocent. After all, all children who once believed in him had to find out somehow that he didn't. As a child, having never believed in him myself, I never once made fun of anyone that did believe in Santa. Even as a child, I never told anyone I knew better.
I am allowing him to believe until he is certain himself there is no Santa. I would never force the issue on him. One day, he will come up to me and say "You lied about there being a Santa" and I will reply with "Well, yes, but wasn't that fun to believe?"
There is something magical about children believing in this (to me). It's different than "the tooth fairy" or the "Easter bunny". Christmas should be magical...and maybe I say that because as a child, I didn't get the chance to believe in any of that.
Children are innocent and believe in magic for only so long..and its certainly not long enough to me.
I believe in Christmas and Santa the way that Deckchick does.
