Lindsay Lohan back in rehab for the THIRD time

it won't last... not this time. Just like it didn't last time... or the time before that.

Why? Because every trip to rehab has been about damage control, not getting sober. Linds loves coke, she loves drinking, she loves the hard partying. Until everyone stops catching her fall, and she actually feels some serious consequences of her behaviors and choices, she will never be any different.

She hasn't been serious about fighting her addictions, I don't anticipate this rehab stay will change much. The last trip to rehab was for damage control - to protect her crumbling public image. I would hate to see her end up in a coffin, but as dramatic as it sounds, that is the way she is heading.

I am by no means cutting her any slack here, but I do have to say that many addicts take a few forward steps and then fall back once or twice while they figure out what they can and cannot do and still stay clean (ie., you can't do drugs and stay clean, Linds....). Everyone makes mistakes and if she relapsed or "slipped" (as far as I am concerned you have to actually be sober for a bit of time - more than 11 days - before you relapse), then she had a bad fall - arrested, drugs, criminal charges, etc.

She had better get serious about it this time as if her life depended on it, because it does. As Lynnie said, she really does need to go away for quite a while, in a place without easy access to her old life. This girl is a hardcore addict.

At best, she's done as an actress.

At worst, she's a River Phoenix waiting to happen.

In the middle?? Well, she'll be like Corey Feldman or Corey Haim... all washed up and strung out, never really regaining any fame, and doing commentary on some VH-1 countdown.

relapsing is one thing, endangering other peoples lives by driving high and drunk is quite another- then it becomes a public matter....she could kill a child, an adult, a couple, a whole family, etc

why does she even bother?? she doesn't want to get sober and I doubt she cares what happens, just as long as she's got money for coke and booze and is high/drunk.

I got sober 11 years ago when I was 26. But when I was in college I was partying pretty hard and had some pretty humiliating blackouts and my roommates got really pissed at me so I went to on-campus counseling. The counselor told me that the only solution was to stop drinking completely and gave me some phone numbers (AA, etc.) I remember thinking that was the most ridiculous thing I ever heard. How could a 21 year old not drink? Everybody drinks (that wasn't true, I know, but didn't want to hang out with those geeks) All my friends partied hard too, but I was the worst. I didn't get sober until I was 26 because it wasn't until then that all my friends grew up and only had one or two when they went out because they had to get up early for work. Then I was a real outcast and was able to come to terms with my alcoholism. I realized that I could NEVER have just one or two like a lady. And that my only option was to have none. Man that was hard. I can't even imagine how hard it is for her. This is her whole life. What will she do if she doesn't party? She's only 21, the party's just started. Everybody parties. She'll have no friends. (I'm saying this because this must be what she's thinking.) I mean she's only going to rehab to try to stay out of jail. I can't imagine that they are really going to be able to convince her at her age that she can live a life without alcohol. And it is IMPOSSIBLE to stay sober if you're still going to clubs with people who drink (early in sobriety).

obviously she is not ready to get sober and i can understand that being that she is 21 but what's with the driving drunk? does she have to kill someone to realize it's one of the most selfish, stupid things you can do. i used to drive drunk and i am deeply ashamed of it. it's not about gossip or her career or if she ever sobers up. that's her problem. eventually she will kill someone or put them in a wheelchair and then she's going to fuck up so many lives.
i do feel for her as i do any addict but i hope she goes to jail because she deserves it. fuck rehab. go right to jail.
