Default Michael Vick indicted for illegal dogfighting

Michael Vick Busted for Illegal Dogfighting

Posted Jul 17th 2007 6:57PM by TMZ Staff
It's dog days for Atlanta Falcons quarterback Michael Vick and others, after being indicted today on federal charges related to illegal dogfighting.

Vick was charged with illegal competitive dogfighting, which involves training pit bulls to fight against other dogs. When authorities searched Vick's property this month, they found 54 pit bulls and a host of brutal items including a "rape stand," used to hold dogs in place for mating; an electric treadmill modified for dogs and a bloodied piece of carpeting.

Graves of seven pit bulls were found inside "Bad Newz Kennels," a Virginia property owned by Vick. The dogs were allegedly killed after testing whether they would be good fighters. According to documents, dogfights would end when one dog died or backed down, and dogs were sometimes put to death by drowning, strangulation, hanging, gunshot, electrocution or some other method.

The indictment alleges that Vick and his co-defendants began sponsoring dogfights in early 2001, the former Virginia Tech star's rookie year with the Falcons.

Disgusting piece of crap. I'm sure he will just get a slap on the wrist though and/or a fine.

I'm glad that a lot of attention will be brought to this issue because of this case. I hope the Falcons cut his ass, he's really a trashy, disgusting person.

Ewww. I saw clips of dog fights on CNN when this first came out and it was gross. Why would people do that to their dogs? And how could you watch it? Some people are really fucking sick.

Maybe the NFL will crack down. They have lately been trying to clean up their image. He should be released with no pay. He should also be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.

Come on people, celebuturds including pro sports stars are above the law.

I don't see anything worse than a slap on the wrist probation with this turd appearing on the oprah show in tears and the cover of people magazine (crying crocodile tears about how he is not a monster).

The more people accept that these turds like vick and hilton are above the law the better off we will be.

It looks like the NFL will be imposing a lifetime ban on Vick. I tell ya' the NFL is cracking down to some extent. They have to do this. It's vile what Vick is accused of.

Isn't the NFL full of career criminals? It's like shutting the barn door after the horses have bolted.

I read the actual article and was disturbed that you can go to jail longer for dog fighting than you do for drunk driving and killing someone in my state (WA). I think our legal system is screwed up.

I think what he is 'accused' of doing is disgusting, but I've also read he never lived at that house he bought it for a relative so until all the facts are presented he is innocent until proven guilty IMO. However, an indictment by the FEDS is no joke. I bet the same friends/family that took all his handouts ($$) will roll over on him.

Like I said, they are trying to improve their image. They have begun to crack down to some extent on player conduct. This is not some fight in a strip club, or getting pulled over with 2 joints. The Feds have indicted him and from all accounts their witnesses are testifying against Vick. If he is found guilty, the NFL commissioner will be put to the test and see if he sticks to his guns. At least they are starting somewhere.

I really don't think he'll get a slap on the wrist, Hilton is an ass, but she never abused animals. I hope he rots in hell for eternity. I don't truly hate many people, but I hate this man.

I am a staunch animal activist, and while volunteering at a bunny foster home(where my adopted dear bun came from) I can't imagine doing anything to cause an animal sadness, nevermind harm. This story brought me to tears, and he should be put in the fucking rape stand.
