Criminal Probe Into Anna's Prescriptions
Posted Jul 6th 2007 3:06PM by TMZ Staff
Filed under: Celebrity Justice, Anna Nicole Smith
TMZ has learned the California Department of Justice (DOJ) is conducting a criminal investigation into several doctors who prescribed various medicines to Anna Nicole Smith.
Sources tell TMZ the DOJ's Bureau of Narcotics Enforcement has contacted Larry Birkhead, Big Mo (Anna's bodyguard) and others. We're told DOJ is particularly interested in two doctors -- Khristine Eroshevich and Sandeep Kapoor. TMZ broke the story that Dr. Kapoor prescribed methadone to Anna under an assumed name when she was eight months pregnant. Dr. Eroshevich ordered a virtual pharmacy of drugs for Anna, five days after her son Daniel died.
Dr. Eroshevich, who was in the Bahamas with Anna, sent the prescription wish list to Dr. Kapoor. Kapoor's attorney, Ellyn Garofalo, told TMZ "Dr. Kapoor declined the request for prescriptions. He would never prescribe that combination of drugs, in such large dosages, to any patient."
The Medical Board of California launched its own investigation of the two doctors earlier this year. That investigation is pending.
By the way, TMZ has learned Dr. Kapoor is in the process of having twins via a surrogate.

These doctors are evil.
I guess it was Kapoor I saw in an interview back when all the mess was going on. He was trying to say that methadone was not dangerous to an unborn child. So far, Dannielynn seems to be fine, but still, those huge amounts of methadone, or huge amounts of ANY drug, would have to be risky and dangerous for any human. Not to mention a pregnant woman and developing baby.
Because of their greed, this little girl has no mother.

You know Sweetness, I was at the dr this week & he said that I have rosea on my face; well, I find it really upsetting & wanted something doing with it. As we're trying to concieve (even if its taking its flipping time!) I'm not allowed a weak anti-biotic cream as even small amounts will end up in my blood-stream; ditto water-retention tabs; so this "methadone won't hurt a feotus"-stuff.... I just don't believe it. Why take the risk? (I get that a methadone users are most likely addicts)

Finally, some investigations are surfacing. Maybe they will be looking at who *requested* the prescriptions in the first place ...?
Good luck, Novice!

You're doing the right thing, Novice! I just know you'll be an excellent mommy.
See, here you are watching everything you do to ensure that you and your future baby are healthy-- then we've got folks like ANS who don't give a damn. And the money grubbing, greedy doctors who support them.
It's scary actually! I'd never be able to forgive myself if my child was born w/ birth defects b/c of something I did.
May you be blessed with a precious baby and much happiness!

It's about damn time , those doctors have no excuse to subscribe that many drugs to a person esp a pregnant lady. I guess some peoples ethics fly out the window when they are paid enough.

Thank you & ITA!
I'm glad that ANS's daughter doesn't appear to have anything wrong with her, but I think that's more luck than judgement!
Sometimes I actually wonder if any of the drs in LA actually abide by their oaths? Because a fair few of them just appear to perscribe anything, anytime....
