Lindsay Lohan Extends Rehab Stay
Tuesday June 26, 2007
The L.A. nightlife scene will have to do without
Lindsay Lohan’s presence a little longer.
The notorious party girl has decided to postpone her release from the Promises Treatment Facility in Malibu, California, mother
Dina Lohan told the
New York Daily News on Monday. Lohan was originally scheduled to leave rehab next week.
"She's going to be doing extended care. It was her choice," said Lohan’s mother, who added that she speaks to Lindsay every day. "She's doing great."
Dina did not disclose how long the
I Know Who Killed Me star plans to remain at the rehab center, but said that the Lohan family will travel to California next week to celebrate Lindsay’s 21st birthday on July 2.
"Lindsay is looking to rebound even better," Ty Dux, Dina's security guard/publicist, told the
Daily News. "She wants to prove to everybody that she means it."
Dux revealed that Lindsay’s birthday festivities will be held at a location outside of the Promises grounds, but emphasized that "no alcohol" will be served.
Lindsay has left the facility several times throughout the last month. She was seen rollerblading with pals along Venice Beach last Wednesday.
On Sunday, she joined a few friends for a late dinner at the West Hollywood restaurant Ketchup. She arrived with her hairdresser Patrick, noshed on fish with a lot of lime juice and also sampled the french fries with homemade ketchups. The group left around 10:15 p.m., at which point the actress headed back to Promises.
Lindsay checked into rehab on May 28 after a whirlwind Memorial Day weekend, in which she was arrested for DUI. While searching her car, cops found a substance tentatively identified as cocaine.
The same weekend, the actress was also involved in a car accident and was photographed by the paparazzi passed out slack-jawed in the passenger seat of her car.
