Ok, Why is Angelina Jolie playing a woman who doesn't resemble her in any way?
Now logic is a wonderful thing but it has, as the processes of evolution discovered, certain drawbacks. Anything that thinks logically can be fooled by something else which thinks at least as logically as it does. - Douglas Adams
Because Brad Pitt was involved in producing the movie and gave her the part. They have so much makeup and special effects now that I don't see why it matters if they naturally look alike. That's what makeup artists are for.
I as trying to think of who Marianne Pearl reminded me of looks-wise and I remember now.... Bill Cosby's illegitimate daughter Autumn who went to jail for extortion.
The side profiles are uncanny

Roosevelt and Churchill, eh? Which one's Ange?
Oh please. Make me vomit all over my shoes.
And Thandie Newton should have played Marianne. She's a better actress and she resembles her. There's no reason to cast an overrated mediocre actress in blackface when there are wonderful actresses of mixed race who could do a better job anyway.
I feel bad for Marianne Pearl, but really....I guess it's hard to not bask in the glow of St. Veingelina.
Also, Angie looks gross.
^^ It is insulting that Angie Jolie thinks she is great enough to just put on blackface and portray an ethnic woman. If Halle Berry were cast as Jackie O, there would be all hell to pay.
You are right, Thandie would have been great.
Marianne, well, I doubt she had any say in who portrayed her. I don't care what she said, she just wants her fame too.
Brad Pitt, keep your mouth shut and just look pretty...well, as pretty as you can now.
it's not like Angie is walking down the street of NY trying to pass herself off as a black woman. she's ACTING. you know, pretending to be something she isn't in a professional setting?
^Yes and it's not 1920 anymore. We have perfectly talented and capable actresses who don't need to be in blackface.
Thanks for clearing up what acting means. Now that everyone on the thread is clear with the definition, may we proceed?
Why not let Larry Fishburne portray Winston Churchill and Vivica Fox portray Marilyn Monroe. There are many other actresses out there who would have been more convincing. Why not bring Al Jolson back?
Maybe when Thandie Newton starts f*cking Brad Pitt then she can star in his movies.

That's still not acceptable, Zebra. It HAS to be a black woman.![]()
