Lily Allen says she is sick of the media glare.

In a MySpace post she wrote: "I don't want to be a celebrity, I am a singer, I write songs, that's it."

The rant was a clear change of mood for Allen, who had earlier turned on the charm during an angelic appearance at MTV's TRL programme in New York.

In the message, titled "F*** Off, F*** Off", the star complained about gossip reports that claimed she arrived late for her
performance at New York City's Roseland Ballroom earlier this week.

She said: "I would never turn up two hours late for a gig... EVER. I'd been in my dressing room since four o'clock that afternoon anyway it's not as if I'd leave 3000 people out there for no reason."

The singer, appearing on MTV's TRL show this week, now says she longer wants to be a celebrity

Allen insists that she does her best to avoid celebrity behaviour: "I don't sleep and take drugs with famous people (I have a boyfriend I've been with for nearly 3 years), I don't go to film premieres. I don't go shopping in the paparazzi hotspots, so please leave me alone."

Allen says the constant attention has made her rethink her website posts: "The thing is, I’m not going to write here so often now. this used to be one of my favourite things to do. I could come on here and vent how I feel honestly and get feedback from you guys. But the tabloid f***s have ruined it."

Last month in a MySpace message, Allen experienced a high profile meltdown, calling herself "fatter and uglier" than Amy Winehouse, and threatened to have liposuction

She's so full of crap. She insults other singers and slags them off in print all the time when she could give benign interviews that didn't stir up headlines.

She's ALWAYS trying to be controversial and court fame. What a hypocrite.

She has also rewritten her past to pretend she was poor and struggling and working-class. Yeah, RIGHT.

Her Dad is loonier than she is, though. It looks as if she is losing some serious weight.

Doesn't she realise she has to do press for her music and her promotions like the New Look dresses? I guess she is going through some natural anxiety with her second album.

I dunno, I'd miss Lily Allen. I'm always open to a good slagfest. Although the whiny self-indulgence bits are starting to get old. Maybe she and Evangeline Lilly can go somewhere nice and warm and stop being famous together.

She has the same producer as Amy Winehouse. She really ought to be making the most of her fame instead of whinging about it.
