MICHAEL JACKSON used the ladies restroom in a Dubai shopping mall [story here Michael Jackson caught in the ladies toliet ] because he couldn't read the sign on the door, according to his spokeswoman.

The pop superstar was reportedly confronted with a woman who claims she caught him adjusting his make-up in a mirror in the bathroom at the Ibn Battuta Mall.

The woman - known only as LATIFAH M - claims she began taking pictures of Jackson on her mobile phone, which she was later forced to delete by mall security guards and Jackson's minders.

But his representative RAYMONE BAIN insists the star made a simple mistake because he didn't recognise the Arabic sign on the door and left as soon as he realised where he was.

Bain says, "Upon his exit (from the ladies bathroom), he was recognised and a crowd ensued. He had to wait in a nearby bookstore until police arrived to escort him through the crowd."

Jackson is currently in Dubai staying with rally driving champion, MOHAMMED BIN SULAYEM - who hopes to convince Jackson to make the emirate his permanent home: "He likes the place and we want him to stay for good here. He likes what he saw and we should try to convince him to buy"."

Here in Italy and in all the other European countries I have visited public toilets' doors simply have the stylized image of a man or a woman, so there's not much to read there.

Is it different in Arabic countries?????

Please. Dubai is an international mecca for business. Although the permanent population live relatively seperate lives, any area open to westerners would have either the universal 'man' or 'woman' image or signs in english. I mean, a huge portion of the country is made up of ex-pats. Do his pr people think the rest of the world is this ignorant?
